Naturally coloured poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate)

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract This study reports an innovative approach for producing intrinsically coloured poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)] films by incorporating natural dyes—turmeric, paprika, annatto, beetroot and hibiscus—directly into the fermentation medium of Ralstonia solanacearum RS.

Effects of organic solvents on the depth‐of‐cure determination of conventional and bulk‐fill resin composites

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigated the influence of organic solvents on the depth of cure (DOC) of resin composites. Two conventional (Filtek Universal [FU] and Beautifil II [BE]) and two bulk‐fill (Filtek One Bulk Fill [FO] and Beautifil‐Bulk [BB]) composites were evaluated.

A chemo‐enzymatic colorimetric cascade for detecting ethylene glycol contamination

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
A chemo‐enzymatic cascade is developed for ethylene glycol (EG) detection. EG is oxidized by GoADH with C1‐mediated cofactor recycling to produce glycolaldehyde (GAL). GAL subsequently reacts with purpald to generate a detectable purple chromophore.

Anaerobic Attenuation of Diisopropyl Ether (DIPE) in Groundwater: Kinetics and Implications for Monitored Natural Attenuation

open access: yesGroundwater Monitoring &Remediation, EarlyView.
Abstract Diisopropyl ether (DIPE) is a branched ether used as a solvent, extractant, and gasoline additive. While aerobic biodegradation of DIPE has been documented, attenuation under anaerobic conditions (typical of groundwater impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates) remains poorly constrained.

Evaluating the suitability of six hydrophobic natural eutectic solvents as the internal phase in a cosmetic cream formulation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Hydrophobic natural eutectic solvents can function as structural oil phase substitutes in creams prepared by low‐energy processes, enabling sustainable, regulation‐compliant formulations with desirable sensory profiles. Abstract Objective This work evaluates whether hydrophobic natural eutectic solvents can replace the conventional oil phase in ...

Sensory contribution of emollient cascades in skin creams evaluated by CATA analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
This work includes emulsion composition and sensory analysis methodology, emollient cascade theory and study results. This study demonstrates how deliberate structuring of emollient cascades can be used as a formulation strategy to modulate both perceived skin feel and product appearance within emulsified systems.

Metabolomic Analysis Reveals Structural Diversity of Pectic Polysaccharides From Prunus persica (L.) Batsch and Their Relationship With Purees Characteristics

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To clarify how pectin heterogeneity relates to puree quality, this study investigated associations among pectin fractions, metabolite profiles, and physicochemical properties of peach purees from 20 cultivars with distinct viscosity, turbidity, and colour.

Solid solution formation in Mg2(Si,Sn) and shape of the miscibility gap [PDF]

open access: yesActa Materialia, 2020
Investigation of the thermochemical stability of Mg2(Si,Sn) thermoelectric materials is crucial for further development of thermoelectric modules. There is a miscibility gap reported for the quasibinary Mg2Si–Mg2Sn series, though the exact compositions ...

Room-temperature miscibility gap in LixFePO4

Nature Materials, 2006
The rechargeable lithium-ion cell is an advanced energy-storage system. However, high cost, safety hazards, and chemical instability prohibit its use in large-scale applications. An alternative cathode material, LiFePO(4), solves these problems, but has a kinetic problem involving strong electron/hole localization. One reason for this is believed to be

Influence of nitrogen Gas pressure on the miscibility Gap in the Ti–Zr carbonitride system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials, 2012
The microstructure of cemented carbides with a gradient structure at the surface consists of WC, cubic carbonitrides and a binder phase. The carbonitrides can, for example, consist of Ti(C,N)-Zr(C,N) where it is reasonable to believe that there is a ...
