A Journal of Varieties of English, 2014William Williams (1727–1791) wrote a novel entitledMr. Penrose: The Journal of Penrose, Seamanabout an English sailor marooned on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, partly based on the author’s own experience. Interhousehold Meat Sharing among Mayangna and Miskito Horticulturalists in Nicaragua
Human Nature, 2011Recent analyses of food sharing in small-scale societies indicate that reciprocal altruism maintains interhousehold food transfers, even among close kin. In this study, matrix-based regression methods are used to test the explanatory power of reciprocal altruism, kin selection, and tolerated scrounging.
