Modeling the electrical mismatch caused by potential-induced degradation in crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules and strings

open access: yesEPJ Photovoltaics
Potential-induced degradation (PID) can not only reduce the output power of a solar cell but also create additional power losses due to non-uniform degradation within a module, string or array, leading to mismatch in the electrical performance of the ...

The Role of Ultra‐Thin Buffer Layers for Achieving Ultra‐Low Dark Currents in Single‐Component Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, SubNc single‐component organic photodiodes (SC‐OPDs) are investigated, which achieve highly competitive performance metrics, including high EQE, ultra‐low JD, and high specific detectivity (D*). This study emphasizes the critical role of an organic buffer layer in studying the interface energetics and effects to achieve state‐of‐the‐art ...

Continued Investigation of Leakage and Power Loss Test Results for Competing Turbine Engine Seals [PDF]

open access: yes
Secondary seal leakage in jet engine applications results in power losses to the engine cycle. Likewise, seal power loss in jet engines not only result in efficiency loss but also increase the heat input into the engine resulting in reduced component ...

Traveling-Wave Photomixers Based On Noncollinear Optical/Terahertz Phase-Matching [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Traveling-wave THz photomixers based on angle-tuned optical/THz phase-matching are experimentally demonstrated. A dc-biased coplanar stripline terminated by a planar antenna is fabricated on low-temperature-grown GaAs.

Furan‐Substituted Phosphine‐Oxide as an Efficient Interfacial Modifier for Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report phosphine‐oxide interlayers for wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells, in which tuned P = O Lewis basicity enables selective passivation of buried NiOx/perovskite interfaces and introduces interfacial dipoles that strengthen the built‐in field.

3D‐Printed Hygroscopic Polymer Networks for High‐Humidity Triboelectric Nanogenerators to Wirelessly Power Implantable Electronic Devices‐ A Conceptual Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work develops 3D‐printable tribopolymer networks that can enhance triboelectric performance under high humidity environments. Polar hydrophilic functional groups and incorporation of zwitterionic monomers promote bound‐water–dominated interfacial polarization thereby increasing electrical outputs.

Selenium‐Incorporated Polymerized Nonfullerene Acceptors/SWCNT Composites with Polymer‐Assisted n‐Doping for High‐Performance Organic Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium‐incorporated polymerized nonfullerene acceptor PCB2Se forms a strong supramolecular complex with SWCNTs, enabling a record‐high zT of 0.29. Sequential N‐DMBI doping, mediated through a polymer‐assisted electron‐transfer pathway, successfully converts the PCB2Se/SWCNT composite into an efficient n‐type material with an impressive power factor ...
