Curved electromagnetic missiles

Journal of Applied Physics, 1989
An interesting topic has been the possible behavior of transient fields in the limit of great distances from their sources. Under the physical restriction that the total energy radiated is finite, it has been shown that the energy reaching a distant receiver can decrease with distance much more slowly than the usual r−2.

Aircraft Missile Avoidance

Operations Research, 1976
The game of two cars defined by Rufus Isaacs is visualized here in terms of missile avoidance by an aircraft. With the system dynamics specified and confined to the horizontal plane, the distinctiveness between Isaacs' original problem and ours lies not only in the choice of parameters, but in the choice of assigned player rationale as well.

Craniocerebral missile injuries

Neurological Research, 2001
Gun shot wounds to the brain are among the most devastating causes of morbidity and mortality in the civilian population. The majority of the victims will not survive and for a great number of survivors life becomes an uphill battle with permanent deficits and complications. While the fundamental surgical care of these patients is essentially unchanged,

Missile Miss Distance

49th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference
16th AIAA/ASME/AHS Adaptive Structures Conference
10t, 2008
*† Missile miss distance characterizes a missile’s accuracy and provides an important data point for Modeling and Simulation (M&S) in the Test and Evaluation (T&E) process. This paper presents a newly developed approach to obtain missile miss distances in support of Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E).

Nature's Ballistic Missile

Science, 1982
The parasitic fungus Haptoglossa mirabilis infects its rotifer host by means of a gun-shaped attack cell. The anterior end of the cell is elongated to form a barrel; the wall at the mouth is invaginated deep into the cell to form a bore.

Missiles and missile defence

2009
Rockets and missiles encompass an extremely diverse class of weapons. There is no technical distinction between rockets and missiles and the terms are often used interchangeably.

Cruise Missiles versus Ballistic Missiles

1980
The main surprise, and disappointment, for many people in tb choice of a successor to Polaris was that it is to be another ballistic missile rather than a cruise missile. The cruise missile is a pilotless aircraft with continuous propulsion, the descendant of the V-1 ‘buzz’ bomb.

MISSILES OR PENSIONS

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1958
If you have ever watched a film of a rocket ascension, you will notice that the rocket starts out slowly and somewhat unsteadily, building up speed as it rises. It is during this first, slow acceleration that the flight can be cancelled by adverse winds and the rocket grounded.

Intracranial Missile Emboli

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 1980
Abstract Projectile embolization into the intracranial arterial system is an extremely rare occurrence. Vessel size restricts the entrance of foreign bodies except those of small caliber such as shotgun pellets. Several cases of cervical neck and intracranial projectile emboli resulting from penetrating wounds of the neck and head have ...

Penetrating missile embolisation

European Journal of Vascular Surgery, 1993
The present case report is that of a 13-year-old boy, who was admitted to the Emergency Unit at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC), with a bullet injury to the right upper quadrant with no exist. Chest X-ray and KUB failed to reveal the bullet and there was no evidence of haemo- or pneumothorax.
