Food insecurity and unemployment among immigrants in the United States
Abstract Immigrants can be more vulnerable to economic downturns and, during periods of economic hardship, more likely to experience food insecurity compared to natives. This study examines the differential effect of the unemployment rate on the probability of being food insecure among diverse groups of immigrant households relative to natives in the ...

Parameter uncertainties for imperfect surrogate models in the low-noise regime
Bayesian regression determines model parameters by minimizing the expected loss, an upper bound to the true generalization error. However, this loss ignores model form error, or misspecification, meaning parameter uncertainties are significantly ...

Aim The number of pregnancies among women with cystic fibrosis (wwCF) has steadily increased over the past decade. However, the pharmacokinetics (PK) of elexacaftor–tezacaftor–ivacaftor (ETI) during gestation remains uncharacterized, despite its widespread use in this population.

Misspecification in dynamic models
Within the class of ARMAX models we consider the effects that omitted explanatory processes have on the dynamic shape and the exogeneity properties of economic relations. We show that, under suitable assumptions, a well defined "misspecified" ARMAX model exists and is unique.

Pharmacometric evaluation of pre‐referral rectal artesunate in children with severe malaria
Aims Parenteral artesunate is the preferred first‐line treatment for severe malaria. Pre‐referral rectal artesunate suppositories are recommended where parenteral treatment is inaccessible. In this study, we compared dihydroartemisinin exposure and model‐predicted early parasite clearance following rectal artesunate and intravenous artesunate in ...

Can quartet analyses combining maximum likelihood estimation and Hennigian logic overcome long branch attraction in phylogenomic sequence data? [PDF]
Systematic biases such as long branch attraction can mislead commonly relied upon model-based (i.e. maximum likelihood and Bayesian) phylogenetic methods when, as is usually the case with empirical data, there is model misspecification.

ABSTRACT Recent methodological development in phylogenetic inference has focused predominantly on molecular data. However, renewed interest in other data types, particularly morphological data, has followed from the increased recognition of the power of total evidence and tip‐dating approaches, including fossil data, for inference of time‐scaled trees ...
