Response of maize varieties to induced stress of soil acidity

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Soil acidity is a major problem for maize production in Western Ethiopia, where the soil pH ranges from 4.3 to 5.4, lower than the optimum pH range of 5.5 to 6.7 for maize growth. This problem leads to reduction in maize yield and exacerbates food insecurity in the region.

Guided Sample Pooling in Human Mass Balance Studies: A Recommended Strategic Decision Framework

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 119, Issue 3, Page 591-597, March 2026.
Radiolabeled human mass balance studies are crucial for identifying circulating metabolites and understanding drug absorption, excretion, and clearance pathways. Metabolite profiling involves quantifying all drug‐related entities, including parent drug and metabolites in plasma and excreta, using extended liquid chromatography methods coupled with ...

Patterns of understorey bird diversity across Amazonian forests: survey effort and range maps predict local species richness

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2026, Issue 3, March 2026.
Species diversity typically increases from higher to lower latitudes, but the regional‐scale variation along this geographic gradient remains unclear. It has been suggested that species diversity throughout Amazonia generally increases westward toward the Andes, but this pattern and its environmental determinants require further investigation for most ...

Human Eye Visualization With an Attention Mechanism: Enhancing Flower Detection and Classification With Visual Attention and Photometric Principles Inspired by Human Vision

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates a flower classification model relying on the human visual system. The model captures images, simulates visual attention and photometric perception, extracts features of shape and color, and classifies flowers by using an optimized neural network that enhances recognition accuracy by mimicking the human eye's focusing ...
