Stenocionops furcatus is a spider crab found in the western Atlantic, from Georgia, USA to Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on sand, coral, rocks or mud bottoms from the intertidal zone to 180 m. We describe all laboratory-reared larval stages of S. furcatus obtained from the northern coast of Sao Paulo State, Brazil, and compare our data with existing ...

The present work describes the complete larval development of Mithraculus sculptus (two zoeal stages, the megalopa) and the first crab instar from laboratory cultured material. The larval morphology is compared with other descriptions currently available for the Mithrax–Mithraculus complex: Mithraculus coryphe, M.

Abstract Hydrodynamism is an environmental stressor on marine communities with effects on populations of intertidal organisms. Microphrys bicornutus is a crab species associated with secondary substrates on rocky shores and little is known about its population dynamics and its relation to the shore hydrodynamics.

Relative growth can be understood as a morphometric relationship of body parts with the body as a whole, described by a mathematic equation. This study provides information on the patterns of relative growth of Mithrax tortugae from Vitoria Island, southeastern Brazilian coast (23°44′04″S 45°01′35″W).
