Abstract 10259: A Case of Mitral Annulus Disjunction Highlighting a Disjunction in Our Knowledge
Circulation, 2022A 56-year-old female patient was brought to our hospital after she suffered a witnessed cardiac arrest while flying on an airplane. She underwent bystander (in the aisle) CPR for about 20 minutes while forcing the plane to land. Altogether, she received seven shocks via AED. At the time of our evaluation, she was alert and in no distress.

SUDDEN CARDIAC DEATH FROM THE MITRAL ANNULUS DISJUNCTION SYNDROME
Journal of the American College of Cardiology, 2020Mitral valve prolapse is common and usually benign, but can be associated with mitral annular disjunction (MAD). This finding is associated with ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.

Mitral valve prolapse is a relatively common disease with a good overall prognosis. However, in specific clinical and instrumental contexts, patients at high risk of ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death can be identified. Female sex, history of palpitations or syncope, bi-leaflet myxomatous valve, ECG repolarization abnormalities in the ...

Mitral Annulus Disjunction - An Underdiagnosed Anatomic Morphology: Review of Literature
International Journal of Science and Healthcare ResearchMitral annular disjunction (MAD) is an easily identifiable entity on transthoracic echocardiography, but is still poorly recognized or ignored. It is often associated with mitral valve prolapse and is itself a risk marker for ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.
