Regurgitant Volume Informs Rate of Progressive Cardiac Dysfunction in Asymptomatic Patients With Chronic Aortic or Mitral Regurgitation

open access: yesJACC: Cardiovascular Imaging, 2015
This study hypothesized that regurgitation severity, as determined by using the regurgitant volume index, would better delineate differential cardiac dysfunction in asymptomatic patients with moderate to severe aortic regurgitation (AR) and mitral regurgitation (MR).Frequent surveillance echocardiography is considered appropriate in asymptomatic ...

Cardiac MRI Across ESC Guidance in the Last Decade

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 5, May 2026.
CMR: bridging clinical challenges to guideline solutions. Four panels summarise the role of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in ESC guidance. Abbreviations: CMR = cardiovascular magnetic resonance. ESC = European Society of Cardiology. MINOCA = myocardial infarction with non‐obstructive coronary arteries. RV = right ventricle.

Double valve replacement for acute spontaneous left chordal rupture secondary to chronic aortic incompetence

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2006
A 54 years old male with undiagnosed chronic calcific degenerative aortic valve incompetence presented with acute left anterior chordae tendinae rupture resulting in severe left heart failure and cardiogenic shock.

Changes in cardiac morphometry in fetuses with lower urinary tract obstruction

open access: yesPregnancy, Volume 2, Issue 3, May 2026.
Abstract Objective Fetal lower urinary tract obstruction (LUTO) is associated with significant perinatal morbidity due to oligohydramnios, pulmonary hypoplasia, and progressive renal dysfunction. In addition to these well‐known sequelae, LUTO has been linked to various cardiac abnormalities on prenatal imaging, including cardiomegaly; ventricular ...

Mitral regurgitation detection and central/eccentric classification using transformer‐based deep learning in multi‐view echocardiography

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Background Fully automated diagnostic echocardiography allows for broader screening, earlier diagnosis for patients with mitral regurgitation (MR). This feasibility study developed a deep learning (DL) framework to automatically detect MR in echocardiography videos and classify regurgitation samples into central or eccentric regurgitation ...

Assessment of Prevalence and Characteristics of Valvular Heart Disease: A Cross‐Sectional Study From Yazd Health Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Valvular heart diseases (VHDs) significantly contribute to global cardiovascular mortality and morbidity, with a shift in epidemiology from rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in developing nations to degenerative valvular diseases in aging populations of industrialized countries.

Right ventricular reserve post mitral valve repair is associated with heart failure hospitalization

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, 2020
Right ventricular impairment is a predictor of cardiovascular outcomes in patients with degenerative mitral regurgitation. However, the time course of right ventricular functional changes post-surgical mitral valve repair remains largely unknown. Herein,

Three Ventricular Assist Devices (True TriVAD) as Bridge to Durable Biventricular Support (BiVAD) in LVAD Patient With Severe Aortic Regurgitation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 631-635, April 2026.
An LVAD patient with severe aortic regurgitation (AR) developed right heart failure and multi‐organ dysfunction (MOD). tRVAD support caused LV overload and pulmonary edema. Impella 5.5 implantation successfully unloaded the LV and stabilized the patient, enabling durable RVAD implantation with surgical aortic valve replacement.

Quantification of Mitral Regurgitation in Anatolian Shepherd Dogs with Asymptomatic Degenerative Mitral Valve Disease [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Veterinary Journal, 2016
Degenerative mitral valvular disease (DMVD) is the most frequent cardiac disease, causing mitral regurgitation (MR) in dogs. The purpose of this study was to compare the ratio of the regurgitant jet area (RJA) to the left atrial area (LAA) (RJA/LAA) with

Study of Tricuspid Valve Regurgitation by 2D and 3D Echocardiography: Comparison Between Transthoracic and Transesophageal Examination for Screening Interventions

open access: yesEchocardiography, Volume 43, Issue 4, April 2026.
Forty‐two patients with significant tricuspid regurgitation (TR) underwent transthoracic (TTE) and transesophageal (TEE) echocardiography. The same day wo‐dimensional (2D) and three‐dimensional (3D) parameters obtained with both modalities were compared.
