Intramachine and intermachine variability in transesophageal color doppler images of pulsatile jets: in vitro studies [PDF]
Background: Color Doppler flow mapping is widely used as a marker of severity of valvular regurgitation, and the transesophageal approach has provided high-quality images in patients with poor acoustic windows.

Mitral regurgitation (MR) causes volume overload and disrupts Ca2+ homeostasis. The volume overload leads to cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis inferred from histopathological studies. Cardiac hypertrophy was identified by increased myocyte cross‐sectional area, left atrial‐to‐aortic root ratio, and left ventricular internal diameter at end‐diastole ...

Mitral Anterior Leaflet Perforation Due to Jet Flow in Aortic Valve Insufficiency
Mitral valve disease is one of the most common pathologies of heart valve diseases. Mitral regurgitation may develop due to pathologies in the valve apparatus (primary regurgitation) or due to pathologies related to the atrium and/or ventricle (secondary

Mitral regurgitation (MR) is a disorder of mitral valve and it is one of the most common causes of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Mitral valve allows blood to flow from left atrium, to the left ventricle and Mitral Valve regurgitation results in

Treatment of mitral regurgitation
<p class="Default">In the elderly mitral regurgitation is very frequent and surgical correction of mitral regurgitation (MR) has often a high operative risk, consequently, over the years, different percutaneous transcatheter techniques have been developed as a valid alternative to surgery.

Abstract Autonomic nerves are crucial in cardiac function and pathology. However, data on the distribution of cholinergic and noradrenergic nerves in normal and pathologic human hearts is lacking. Nonfailing donor hearts were pressure‐perfusion fixed, imaged, and dissected. Left ventricular cardiomyopathy samples were also obtained.

Surgical treatment of giant cardiac aneurysm with pseudoaneurysm in a colon carcinoma patient [PDF]
Left ventricular pseudoaneurysm is a rare and lethal condition associated with a high risk of rapid enlargement and rupture. It develops after transmural myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac surgery, trauma, or infection.

ABSTRACT Anatomical descriptions of left‐sided oblique coronary branches remain inconsistent, hindering imaging interpretation and surgical planning. To quantify the prevalence, branching patterns and morphometry of the ramus intermedius (RI) and diagonal branches, and propose a unified nomenclature.
