Mitral valve prosthetic ring annuloplasty represents a key milestone in the history of mitral valve repair, delivering restoration of annular shape and size. Increased leaflet coaptation, together with significant reduction in stress on sutures, has ensured predictability and immediate stability for valve repair, both of which were lacking with ...

Transcatheter mitral valve repair - transcatheter mitral valve annuloplasty
EuroIntervention, 2014Percutaneous mitral valve therapies have emerged as an alternative option for high-risk patients with mitral regurgitation. Multiple technologies and diversified approaches are today under clinical study or in development and they can be categorised based on the anatomically and pathophysiologically addressed target.

Mitral Valve Annuloplasty Failure and Percutaneous Treatment Options
Current Cardiology Reports, 2021Mitral valve repair is a common surgical procedure for both primary and secondary mitral regurgitation. With operations performed earlier in disease progression and increased patient longevity, the need for a repeat intervention is not infrequent. With the associated risks of reoperation and patient comorbidities, percutaneous techniques for acute or ...

Linear Segmental Annuloplasty for Mitral Valve Repair
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1997A method of posterior mitral annulus remodeling is presented. The posterior annulus is divided into three segments, each segment encircled by a suture that is passed in a tourniquet. Coaptation of the leaflets can be achieved by tightening the tourniquets while the ventricle is being filled. This technique is simple and quick, avoids the use of foreign

Mitral valve repair with adjustable ring annuloplasty
The Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2018We demonstrate the technical aspects of a novel adjustable mitral ring. This new ring was implanted in a female landrace pig, for training and educational purposes. It can be adjusted independently in the P1, P2 and P3 segments, if required, to treat recurrent mitral regurgitation, and this is a key difference to comparable devices.

A trigone-to-trigone semirigid annuloplasty band (C-G Future Band, Medtronic, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA) was introduced in 2001 for mitral valve repair. We report our early clinical and echocardiographic results with this new device to correct ischemic mitral regurgitation.Between January 2002 and December 2004, among 216 patients operated on ...

AbstractObjectivesWe aimed to compare indirect mitral annuloplasty using the Carillon Mitral Contour System and edge‐to‐edge repair via MitraClip in atrial functional mitral regurgitation (aFMR).BackgroundIn patients with left ventricular dilation, both edge‐to‐edge repair and indirect mitral annuloplasty are effective in reducing mitral regurgitation,

Severe aortic regurgitation immediately after mitral valve annuloplasty
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1999We report a case of severe aortic regurgitation occurring immediately after the insertion of a mitral annuloplasty ring. On transesophageal echocardiography, regurgitation was found to originate from the retracted left coronary cusp. On direct examination, part of the aortic wall was folded, but no suture could be identified.

297 Transventricular mitral valve annuloplasty
European Journal of Heart Failure Supplements, 2004Ischemic changes of mitral valve lead to severe hemodynamic disorders in pts with ischemic dilative cardiomyopathy(ICD). The aim of this study was to evaluate our preliminary experiance of transventricular access for mitral valve anuloplasty.

Overlapping annuloplasty of the mitral valve in children
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2004Harmonious reduction of the posterior annulus of the mitral valve can be a useful adjunct to obtain complete valve competence in case of annular dilatation. We present a technique with the use of two resorbable sutures that overlap over the middle third of the posterior annulus that was used in 10 children with good short-term results.
