Mitral Valve Reconstruction and Mitral Valve Replacement for Ischemic Mitral Insufficiency
Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 1997Patients with ischemic mitral incompetence have a high operative risk whether the valve is repaired or replaced. The advantage of repair over replacement is unclear in this group of patients.Between April 1986 and December 1994, 232 patients underwent surgery for ischemic mitral valve insufficiency; mitral valve replacement was performed in 98 of them.

Spring Valve for Mitral Insufficiency
A.M.A. Archives of Surgery, 1955The surgical attack upon acquired heart disease has progressed at a rapid pace since the advent of mitral commissurotomy in 1949. 1 The outstanding valvular defect, which still is unsolved from a surgical standpoint, is mitral insufficiency. Bailey 2 found at operation that 21.7% of patients operated upon for mitral stenosis had a significant amount of

Early experience with mitral valve reconstruction for mitral insufficiency
The American Journal of Surgery, 1991Mitral valve repair for mitral regurgitation has been reported to have more favorable early and late results than mitral valve replacement. From July 1985 through July 1990, 63 patients have undergone valve repair at Good Samaritan Hospital. Twenty-two men and 41 women whose ages ranged from 34 to 81 years (mean 67.9 years) were treated.

Functional Mitral Valve Insufficiency
2013The term “ischemic mitral valve insufficiency” often refers to post-infarction mitral valve insufficiency following localized deformation of the ventricular chamber and the consequent distortion of the mitral tensor apparatus.

Myxomatous Transformation of the Mitral Valve Producing Mitral Insufficiency
American Journal of Diseases of Children, 1970Mitral regurgitation in children is most commonly associated with chronic rheumatic heart disease, and a number of congenital cardiac lesions may produce a similar lesion. Not uncommonly, a diagnostic problem arises in the older child with classical findings of mitral regurgitation without a history of rheumatic fever.

[Repair in rheumatic mitral valve insufficiency].
Giornale italiano di cardiologia, 1997Emerging evidence indicates that etiology plays an essential role in the results of mitral valve repair. In this study, we examined the long-term performance of this procedure in 61 consecutive patients with pure rheumatic mitral insufficiency.Patient ages ranged from 4 to 74 years (mean: 51.7 +/- 16).

Results of mitral valve reconstruction in mitral valve insufficiency.
The Journal of cardiovascular surgery, 1995In the last three years forty mitral valve reconstruction (MR) procedures were performed in case of mitral insufficiency (MI). In three cases, anatomical changes made reconstruction impossible for us. One patient had to be re-operated because of unsatisfactory valve function. There was no operative mortality.

[Acute mitral valve insufficiency].
Annales de cardiologie et d'angeiologie, 1996This type of disease has benefited considerably, over recent decades, from progress in ultrasound technique and new methods of medical and surgical treatment. The aetiologies of mitral incompetence can be classified into 4 categories according to their mechanism: 1.
