Mitral valve repair for ischemic mitral insufficiency

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1991
Over a 5-year period, 1,292 patients had operation on their native mitral valves. Ischemia was the cause of mitral insufficiency in 84 patients (6.5%). Sixty-five patients (77.4%) had mitral valve repair. Mean age was 66 +/- 10 years; 35 patients (53.8%) were women.

Mitral valve repair for traumatic mitral regurgitation

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2015
Mitral valve injury after blunt chest trauma is a rare clinical condition. We describe a case of mitral valve repair for severe mitral regurgitation due to blunt chest trauma 5 years previously. A 22-year-old man was referred to our hospital for surgical correction of severe mitral regurgitation.

Mitral valve repair in ischemic mitral regurgitation

Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2005
Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) is a common complication after acute myocardial infarction due to annulus dilatation and papillary muscles displacement. In our opinion 3/4 and 4/4 IMR have always to be indicated for MV surgery. In presence of low EF and dilated LV, moderate (2/4) IMR has to be corrected.

Robotic Mitral Valve Repair

Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing, 2015
Mitral valve repair is the standard therapy for patients with severe mitral regurgitation. Currently, robotic mitral valve repair is the least invasive surgical approach and an alternative to the traditional sternotomy. Recent studies and newer guidelines on mitral valve repair advocate for earlier referral to surgery, resulting in better long-term ...

Mitral Valve Repair for Ischemic Mitral Regurgitation

Angiology, 2008
Our aim was to evaluate midterm results in patients who underwent mitral valve repair (MVR) for ischermic mitral regurgitation (IMR) in our most recent experience. From March 2006 to March 2008, 105 patients underwent MVR for IMR. Mean IMR grade was 2.6 ± 1.1, with 46 patients having ≤2/4 and 59 ≥3/4.

Mitral valve repair for significant mitral insufficiency

American Heart Journal, 1978
There has been skepticism since the early days of open heart surgery that good long-term or even short-term results were possible with repair of pure mitral insufficiency. The authors report 145 patients in whom a markedly insufficient mitral valve was repaired 6 months to 17 years previously and another 55 patients in whom repair of the insufficient ...

Percutaneous edge‐to‐edge mitral valve repair may rescue select patients in cardiogenic shock: Findings from a single center case series

Catheterization and cardiovascular interventions, 2019
Patients with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) and cardiogenic shock are typically too high risk for immediate surgery; however, percutaneous edge‐to‐edge mitral valve repair (pMVr) may be reasonable in select patients.

Reoperation in mitral valve repair for regurgitant mitral valve disease

The Japanese Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2003
Reviewing reoperative mitral valve repair, we evaluated a predictor for future reoperation by comparing degenerative and rheumatic mitral regurgitation. From June 1988 to September 2002, 159 patients with mitral valve regurgitation underwent a variety of surgical reconstruction.

Transapical mitral valve repair with neochordae implantation: FSI analysis of neochordae number and complexity of leaflet prolapse

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, 2019
Transapical mitral valve repair with neochordae implantation is a relatively new minimally invasive technique to treat primary mitral regurgitation. Quantifying the complex biomechanical interaction and interdependence between the left heart structures ...
