Myocardial Perfusion Defects in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Mutation Carriers

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association, EarlyView., 2021
Background Impaired myocardial blood flow (MBF) in the absence of epicardial coronary disease is a feature of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Although most evident in hypertrophied or scarred segments, reduced MBF can occur in apparently normal segments.

71. Incidence of paravalvular leakage after aortic and mitral valve replacement at KFSH & RS, single centre experience

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Heart Association, 2015
Paravalvular leakage (PVL) is not rare and can be a serious clinical problem in 1–5% of all valve replacement. There are inconclusive data regarding the incidence of PVR after aortic valve replacement (AVR) and mitral valve replacement (MVR).The aim of ...

Early experience of TIARA transcatheter mitral valve replacement system.

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2018
Mitral regurgitation (MR) is a common valvular disorder that can result in congestive heart failure and cardiovascular death. Patient suffering from this condition are frequently not referred and thus the condition is under-treated.

Septic emboli secondary to Infective Endocarditis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A 31 year old lady was brought to casualty by a friend, unconscious and incontinent of urine and faeces. She was responsive to verbal stimuli with a Glasgow Come Scale (GCS) of 10 and noted to have a fever of 39.6oC.

Liver stiffness measurement for non‐invasive assessment of central venous pressure in patients with heart failure: A multicentre pilot study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Liver stiffness measurement for central venous pressure assessment. AUC, area under the curve; BMI, body mass index; CI, confidence interval; CVP, central venous pressure; HF, heart failure; LSM, liver stiffness measurement; LVEF, left ventricular ejection fraction. Abstract Aims Central venous pressure (CVP) is an important variable in assessing heart

Transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Medicine, 2017
Mitral regurgitation is the valvular heart disease with the highest prevalence in the Western countries, and its prevalence increases with age.1 Conventional surgery provides excellent results in the younger population free of comorbidities, but up to 50% of the patients with severe mitral ...

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement in patients with concomitant mitral stenosis

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 2018
AIMS Multivalvular disease is of increasing concern in elderly patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The objective of the present analysis was to investigate the impact of concomitant mitral stenosis (MS) on clinical outcomes

Prognostic value of NT‐proBNP in patients with primary mitral regurgitation undergoing transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
In the PRIME‐MR study, patients with higher N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP) tertiles more frequently reached death or heart failure hospitalization (HFH) within 3 years. Log‐transformed NT‐proBNP levels independently predicted the primary endpoint (adjusted hazard ratio 1.17, 95% confidence interval 1.07–1.28; p < 0.001).

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
The ADHF‐ED trial. ADHF, acutely decompensated heart failure; CHF, chronic heart failure; ED, emergency department; EF, ejection fraction; MRA, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist; NT‐proBNP, N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide. Created with the support of AI (ChatGPT).
