Summary Introduction Peri‐operative anaemia is a common problem in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Postoperative anaemia is not well understood relative to pre‐operative anaemia; limited data exist on haemoglobin recovery and mortality after discharge, especially in the era of restrictive transfusion practice.

We have developed a unique method for pre‐clinical heart valve prostheses evaluation of calcification propensity. Results from the test can directly be translated into improvements of prostheses design, materials, and anti‐calcification treatments, and therefore have a significant impact on heart valve prostheses quality and patient care in the future.

In Vitro Calcification Evaluation of Polycarbonate Urethane—Impact of Production Processes
The study shows that hot pressing induces chemical changes in PCU, promoting calcification, while solution‐cast patches remain unaffected. ABSTRACT Background Heart valve diseases remain a leading cause of death in industrialized nations. Polycarbonate urethane (PCU) is a promising material for heart valve prostheses due to its biocompatibility and low

Aspirin discontinuation in long‐term, stable Heart Mate 3 LVAD patients maintained on Vitamin K antagonists did not increase hemocompatibility‐related adverse events. These findings support the safety of simplified antithrombotic therapy and extend randomized evidence for aspirin avoidance to the long‐term management of Heart Mate 3 recipients ...
