Allograft Mitral Valve Replacement
Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery: Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Annual, 1999Allograft valves have been used in cardiac valve replacement for over 40 years. Early failures of allograft mitral valve replacement (AMVR) were attributed to inadequate allograft preservation or unsuccessful implantation techniques. Due to an improved understanding of mitral valve function gained from experience in mitral valve reconstruction ...

Improved mitral valve replacement
European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 1990We describe a simple, reproducible technique of achieving more normal left ventricular function after mitral valve replacement. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sutures are used as chordae tendineae to restore the integrity between the mechanical valve and papillary muscles and thus the left ventricular wall.

Transaortic Mitral Valve Replacement
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2012Transaortic replacement of the mitral valve at the time of aortic valve or root replacement is a rarely used technique that offers many possible advantages in the setting of multivalve replacement. Reports in the literature are few and dated. The purpose of this brief communication is to describe technical and procedural details specific to mitral ...

Robotic mitral valve replacement
Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2014Robotic surgical techniques allow surgeons to perform mitral valve surgery. This procedure has gained acceptance, particularly for mitral valve repair in degenerative mitral disease. However, mitral repair may not always be possible, especially in severely calcified mitral valve of rheumatic origin.

MITRAL VALVE REPLACEMENT IN CHILDREN
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1988Rheumatic fever leading to advanced valvular heart disease, in adults and children, is still frequently seen in developing countries. In the period 1981–87, 1137 patients underwent open heart surgery for either repair (489 patients), or replacement (639 patients) of defective cardiac valves.

Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement
Interventional Cardiology Clinics, 2016Mitral valve disease prevalence is on the rise worldwide, affecting an estimated 2% of the general population. Novel transcatheter mitral valve replacement technologies are being developed and may provide a viable and safe option in patients who are deemed otherwise not suitable candidates for conventional mitral valve surgery.

Risks of Mitral Valve Replacement and Mitral Valve Replacement with Coronary Artery Bypass
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1985One hundred thirty consecutive patients who underwent mitral valve replacement (MVR) or MVR with coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) using cold crystalloid cardioplegic solution were analyzed to determine operative mortality and risk factors. Twenty-eight patients had mitral stenosis (MS), 37 had mitral regurgitation (MR), 37 had mixed MS and MR, 23

Mitral Valve Reconstruction and Mitral Valve Replacement for Ischemic Mitral Insufficiency
Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 1997Patients with ischemic mitral incompetence have a high operative risk whether the valve is repaired or replaced. The advantage of repair over replacement is unclear in this group of patients.Between April 1986 and December 1994, 232 patients underwent surgery for ischemic mitral valve insufficiency; mitral valve replacement was performed in 98 of them.
