Miura-type transformations

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1992
Summary: In this letter Miura-type transformations are considered for generalized KdV equations of the form \(u_ y+u_{xxx}+f(u,u_ x)=0\). The nonlinear forms of this equation that admit such transformations are completely classified. For the same equations Bäcklund transformations are derived. Finally we investigate a wider class of transformations.

A note on Miura’s transformation

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1979
It has been observed by Miura that the solutions of the modified Korteweg–deVries equation can be mapped into those of the Korteweg–deVries equation. In this note we show that all of the solutions of the former, decaying sufficiently rapidly as ‖x‖→∞, map into a sparse solution set of the KdV equation.

Miura transforms for discrete Painleve equations

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1992
Summary: A Miura transformation is presented relating the discrete Painlevé II equation to what plays the role of the modified \(d-P_{II}\) (equation (34) in the Painlevé-Gambier classification). The study of this transformation makes possible the derivation of the auto-Bäcklund transform of the discrete \(P_{II}\) and allows one to obtain particular ...
