Mixed-species grouping in Thomson's and Grant's gazelles: the antipredator benefits

Animal Behaviour, 1990
Abstract Thomson's gazelles, Gazella thomsoni , and Grant's gazelles, G. granti , in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, frequently associate in mixed-species groups. Males are more likely to associate than females. Here the antipredator benefits of such associations are investigated.

Spacing behavior of visual- and tactile-feeding shorebirds in mixed-species groups

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1989
Time activity budgets were determined for tactile-feeding Long-billed Dowitchers (Limnodromus scolopaceus) and Pectoral Sandpipers (Calidris melanotus), and for visual-feeding Lesser Yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes) and Semipalmated Sandpipers (Calidris pusilla) while these species were foraging in mixed-species groups at Inuvik, Northwest Territories ...

Ranging Patterns of Callimico goeldii (callimico) in a Mixed Species Group

2009
Ranging patterns are behavioral adaptations that relate to demographic and ecological variables, such as population density and resource distribution. Intraspecific variation in ranging may reflect responses to variable environmental conditions. A study of Callimico goeldii, the callimico or Goeldi’s monkey, in association with Saguinus fuscicollis ...

Consequences of Joint-Territoriality in a Mixed-Species Group of Tamarin Monkeys

Behaviour, 1992
AbstractGroups of saddle-back (Saguinus fuscicollis) as moustached tamarins (Saguinus mystax) in a western Amazonian forest jointly defended home ranges larger than 100 ha, which were held in common throughout the year. Resources were defended by direct exploitation in extensive areas shared with other groups, or through intensive and frequent ...
