Microfluidic mixing using contactless dielectrophoresis
ELECTROPHORESIS, 2011AbstractThe first experimental evidence of mixing enhancement in a microfluidic system using contactless dielectrophoresis (cDEP) is presented in this work. Pressure‐driven flow of deionized water containing 0.5 μm beads was mixed in various chamber geometries by imposing a dielectrophoresis (DEP) force on the beads.

Multi-robot mixing using braids
52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2013This paper presents a method for automatically achieving multi-robot mixing in the sense that the robots follow predefined paths in a somewhat loose sense while ensuring that their actual movements are rich enough. In particular, we focus on the mixing problem, where the robots have to interweave their movements, for example to ensure sufficiently rich

With perhaps the exception of building a new town, mixed-use (MXD) development requires the most complex real estate market analysis. As with the structural organization of the preceding chapters on real estate products in this book, this chapter will begin with a background of the real estate product type.

Microfluidic mixing using pulsating flows
Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, 2016Mixing of biological species in microfluidic channels is challenging since the mixing process is limited by the small mass diffusion coefficient of the species and by the dominance of viscous effects, captured by the low value of Reynolds number characteristic of laminar liquid flow in microchannels.

Down-mixing using coherence suppression
2014 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2014A common problem in audio signal processing is to mix two or more signals into one sum signal. The mixing procedure, known as down-mixing, usually introduces some signal impairments, especially if two signals contain similar but phase shifted signal components. Summing up such signals results in severe comb-filter artifacts. In this paper, we propose a

This chapter presents an overview of some of the main design issues and opportunities in planning mixed-use solar communities. The chapter discusses the impacts on solar access of neighborhood’s shape, layout of streets, density of buildings, and of the combination of various types of buildings.

Quantifying mixing using equilibrium reactions
Physics of Fluids, 2009A method of quantifying equilibrium reactions in a microchannel using a fluorometric reaction of Fluo-4 and Ca2+ ions is presented. Under the proper conditions, equilibrium reactions can be used to quantify fluid mixing without the challenges associated with constituent mixing measures such as limited imaging spatial resolution and viewing angle ...

Zoning is such a cornerstone of the US planning system that for US planners it may be hard to imagine that one can regulate development without it. But is zoning a widely shared institution? Is it as integral to the planning systems of other “developed” nations as it is in the United States? Based on a review of literature and planning documents, this
