Abstract Epilepsy surgery remains the most effective treatment for focal drug‐resistant epilepsy, and stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) is increasingly used to define the epileptogenic‐zone network (EZN) and guide curative or palliative interventions.

Literacy: A cultural influence on functional left-right differences in the inferior parietal cortex [PDF]
The current understanding of hemispheric interaction is limited. Functional hemispheric specialization is likely to depend on both genetic and environmental factors.

Voice and Speech in Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders
Background Motor speech disorders are early, common, and functionally limiting features of atypical parkinsonian disorders (APDs) such as progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal syndrome (CBS), and multiple system atrophy (MSA). These impairments are underrecognized and undertreated in neurology clinics.

Language-Mixing, Discourse Length and Discourse Quality in Bilingual Aphasia
Some researchers assert that “normal” mixing of words from one language into another occurs more often in multilingual individuals with aphasia (PWA) than in matched healthy controls (HC) (e.g., Chengappa et al., 2004). In one case-study, language-mixing was seen to help PWA increase their communication (Sebastian et al., 2012).

Abstract Background Group treatments and interdisciplinary collaboration are recommended in evidence‐based guidelines for neurorehabilitation, including physical and speech‐language therapy. Evidence suggests that activating overlapping neural networks for upper extremity motor control and speech‐language processing produces synergistic effects during ...

Transcortical mixed aphasia due the subcortical hemorrhage in the left parietooccipital lobe.

Brain asymmetries related to language with emphasis on entorhinal cortex and basal forebrain [PDF]
Anatomical asymmetries of the human brain are important in at least four respects: 1) they can serve as potential indicators of the evolutionary foundations of language, 2) they can be used for comparative analysis of neural specializations for ...
