A New Algorithm for the Coupled Soil–Pore Fluid Problem
Two new semiexplicit algorithms for the coupled soil–pore fluid problem are developed in this article. The stability of the new algorithms is much better than that of the previous algorithm.

Properties of Third‐Order Nonlinear Functional Differential Equations with Mixed Arguments [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to offer sufficient conditions for property (B) and/or the oscillation of the third‐order nonlinear functional differential equation with mixed arguments . Both cases and are considered. We deduce properties of the studied equations via new comparison theorems.

Why the Ultimate Argument for Scientific Realism Ultimately Fails [PDF]
In this paper, I argue that the ultimate argument for Scientific Realism, also known as the No-Miracles Argument (NMA), ultimately fails as an abductive defence of Epistemic Scientific Realism (ESR), where (ESR) is the thesis that successful theories of ...

Multi-level computational methods for interdisciplinary research in the HathiTrust Digital Library. [PDF]
We show how faceted search using a combination of traditional classification systems and mixed-membership topic models can go beyond keyword search to inform resource discovery, hypothesis formulation, and argument extraction for interdisciplinary ...

Property (A) and Oscillation of Third-Order Differential Equations with Mixed Arguments
Summary: We present sufficient conditions for property (B) and the oscillation of the third-order nonlinear functional differential equation with mixed arguments \[ [a(t)[x'(t)]^\gamma]'' = q(t)f(x[\tau(t)]) + p(t)h(x[\sigma(t)]), \] where \(\int^\infty a^{-1/\gamma}(s)\,\text{d}s = \infty\).

The Pessimistic Induction: A Bad Argument Gone Too Far [PDF]
In this paper, I consider the pessimistic induction construed as a deductive argument (specifically, reductio ad absurdum) and as an inductive argument (specifically, inductive generalization).

Towards optimal experimental tests on the reality of the quantum state
The Barrett–Cavalcanti–Lal–Maroney (BCLM) argument stands as the most effective means of demonstrating the reality of the quantum state. Its advantages include being derived from very few assumptions, and a robustness to experimental error.

This paper criticises four major approaches to criminal law – consequentialism, retributivism, abolitionism, and “mixed” pluralism – each of which, in its own fashion, affirms the celebrated emblem of the “scales of justice.” The argument is that there ...

Deverbal modifiers of the noun in Germanic and Romance: interpretation and position [PDF]
In this paper it is argued that deverbal modifiers of the noun are mixed categories that, both in Germanic and Romance, can have various interpretations, from purely verbal to purely adjectival, with several mixed interpretations in between.

Solutions of two-term time fractional order differential equations with nonlocal initial conditions
We study the existence of mild solutions for the two-term fractional order abstract differential equation $${D}^{\alpha+1}_t u(t) + \mu {D}_t^{\beta} u(t) - Au(t) = D^{\alpha-1}_t f(t,u(t)), \quad t\in [0,1], \quad 0 < \alpha \leq \beta \leq 1, \mu \geq ...
