Convective Overshooting and Mixing
1997Convection is of major importance in both energy transport and mixing in stars. Convective penetration, or overshooting from unstable into the surrounding stable layers, extends the zone of effective mixing influencing both the thermal structure and evolution of stars.

Convective Overshooting and Mixing in Stellar Evolution
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1998Stars are a major constituent of the Universe. They provide the basic measurements of masses, distances and ages. Stars axe the sites of nuclear reactions and the origin of the elements; they determine the chemical and hence luminosity evolution of galaxies.

Magma mixing by convective entrainment
Nature, 1996RECENT studies of volcanic eruptions have brought to light a puzzling sequence: the ejection of dense and mixed liquids followed by a larger volume of unmixed, less dense liquid1–4. Although these studies have shown that the mixing is associated with the injection of basaltic liquid into a more silicic magma chamber, a paradox remains.

Buoyancy is the dominant mechanism driving turbulence in a convective boundary layer. Such turbulence is not completely random, but is often organized into identifiable structures such as thermals and plumes (Young, 1988). Entertainment happens at a variety of scales: lateral entertainment by small eddies into the sides of thermals, and vertical ...

Mixed Convection in Multicomponent Systems
1984We have been interested in the study of transport phenomena in liquid phase for a long time. These phenomena are rather well understood in the gas phase, and the kinetic theory of gases predicts, more or less correctly, the experimental values of transport coefficients such as the viscosity and the isothermal diffusion coefficient, and even coupled ...

A separated flow in mixed convection
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1974A numerical solution is presented for the flow of a uniform stream past a semi-infinite heated flat plate at whose surface the heat flux remains constant. The buoyancy forces oppose the free-stream motion and separation occurs. An examination of the singularities in the skin-friction and heat-transfer coefficients suggests, rather surprisingly, a ...

[Convective and mixed dialysis technique].
Giornale italiano di nefrologia : organo ufficiale della Societa italiana di nefrologia, 2008Hemodiafiltration is the dialytic strategy enabling the high potential of hydraulic and solute permeability of synthetic membranes to be most properly exploited, thus greatly enhancing removal of small and middle-molecular toxic compounds. Several of those solutes have a pathogenic role or are recognized as marker of the most frequent long-term ...
