Characterization of Dental Composite Resin with Additional TiO2 Nanoparticle Filler

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia, EarlyView.
Silanized SiO2‐based dental composite resins with and without TiO2 nanoparticle addition were fabricated using a Bis‐GMA/TEGDMA resin matrix and photopolymerized under 468‐470 nm UV light. The resulting composites, composite I (55% SiO2) and composite II (50% SiO2 + 5% TiO2), were characterized via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform ...

Let's Talk About Bone Cylinders. Taphonomy of Carnivores and Humans

open access: yesInternational Journal of Osteoarchaeology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACTBone cylinders are a distinctive structure predominantly produced by durophagous carnivoran species during the consumption of long bones, in which the diaphyseal canal remains intact while both epiphyses are removed or consumed. This study evaluates the significance of this morphology, traditionally attributed to extant and extinct hyena ...

Tackling saiga horn consumption in Singapore: From consumer insights to intervention co‐design

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The illegal and unsustainable wildlife trade is a key driver of biodiversity loss, and reducing consumer demand is recognised as a critical step in addressing it. However, studies understanding the drivers of wildlife product consumption and identifying effective strategies to reduce it remain very limited.

Predictability of obstructive sleep apnea with a somesthetic screening score: Development and preliminary validation in a prospective study

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
This prospective study developed a two‐step clinical scoring system for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) screening based on patients’ somesthetic perception of oropharyngeal airflow. The Intermediate Score (IS ≥ 7.5) achieved 73% sensitivity and 77% specificity (AUC = 0.7754; OR = 8.96).
