VAL : automatic plan validation, continuous effects and mixed initiative planning using PDDL [PDF]
This paper describes aspects of our plan validation tool, VAL. The tool was initially developed to support the 3rd International Planning Competition, but has subsequently been extended in order to exploit its capabilities in plan validation and ...

When multiple measures are collected repeatedly over time, redundancy typically exists among responses. The envelope method was recently proposed to reduce the dimension of responses without loss of information in regression with multivariate responses. It can gain substantial efficiency over the standard least squares estimator.

Decentralized Mixed Effects Modeling in COINSTAC
Abstract Performing group analysis on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data with linear mixed-effects (LME) models is challenging due to its large dimensionality and inherent multi-level covariance structure. In addition, as large-scale collaborative projects become commonplace in neuroimaging, data must increasingly ...

Mixed Alkali Effect in Glasses
We have applied the bond-valence technique to reverse Monte Carlo produced structural models of mixed alkali phosphate glasses in order to elucidate the mixed alkali effect (MAE) in glasses. For the first time, the MAE is reproduced and understood directly from structural models in quantitative agreement with available experimental results.

A stochastic mixed effects model to assess treatment effects and fluctuations in home-measured peak expiratory flow and the association with exacerbation risk in asthma [PDF]
Home-based measures of lung function, inflammation, symptoms, and medication use are frequently collected in respiratory clinical trials. However, new statistical approaches are needed to make better use of the information contained in these data-rich ...

Mixed-Effect Thompson Sampling
A contextual bandit is a popular framework for online learning to act under uncertainty. In practice, the number of actions is huge and their expected rewards are correlated. In this work, we introduce a general framework for capturing such correlations through a mixed-effect model where actions are related through multiple shared effect parameters. To

Simulation-Based Power Calculations for Mixed Effects Modeling: ipdpower in Stata
Simulations are a practical and reliable approach to power calculations, especially for multi-level mixed effects models where the analytic solutions can be very complex.

Estimating basis functions in massive fields under the spatial mixed effects model [PDF]
Spatial prediction is commonly achieved under the assumption of a Gaussian random field by obtaining maximum likelihood estimates of parameters, and then using the kriging equations to arrive at predicted values.
