An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

State Estimation for Measurement-Saturated Memristive Neural Networks with Missing Measurements and Mixed Time Delays Subject to Cyber-Attacks: A Non-Fragile Set-Membership Filtering Framework

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This paper is concerned with the state estimation problem based on non-fragile set-membership filtering for a class of measurement-saturated memristive neural networks (MNNs) with unknown but bounded (UBB) noises, mixed time delays and missing ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Bias correction of partial-error in variables in a Poisson regression model

open access: yesStatistical Theory and Related Fields
Previous studies on Poisson regression models with error-in-variables (EIV) assumed either a univariate EIV structure or multivariate EIV framework with all explanatory variables subject to error where the explanatory variable and error vectors are ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Penalized Trimmed Squares and a Modification of Support Vectors for Unmasking Outliers in Linear Regress

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2007
We consider the problem of identifying multiple outliers in linear regression models. We propose a penalized trimmed squares (PTS) estimator, where penalty costs for discarding outliers are inserted into the loss function.

The Estimation of Mixed Demand Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
In applied demand analysis the quantities demanded are usually explained as a function of prices and total expenditure. Complete systems of such demand functions describe in this way all (groups of) commodities in the budget of the consumer. They reflect the basic assumptions about utility maximizing behaviour of the consumer by the parametrization of ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Estimates for Mixed Character Sums [PDF]

open access: yesGeometric and Functional Analysis, 2008
We give sharp estimates for certain families of exponential sums in several variables over finite fields.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...
