Applications and algorithms for mixed integer nonlinear programming

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2009
The mathematical modeling of systems often requires the use of both nonlinear and discrete components. Discrete decision variables model dichotomies, discontinuities, and general logical relationships. Nonlinear functions are required to accurately represent physical properties such as pressure, stress, temperature, and equilibrium.

An Intelligent Feature Engineering‐Driven Hybrid Framework for Adversarial Domain Name System Tunneling Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel framework that enhances the reliability of DNS traffic monitoring using a hybrid long short‐term memory‐deep neural network (LSMT‐DNN) architecture, enabling robust detection of adversarial DNS tunneling. The proposed framework leverages feature extraction from DNS traffic patterns, including domain request sequences, query ...

Short‐Term Scheduling Optimization of a Single‐Pipeline Refining System With High Melting Point Crude Oil

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In order to reflect the actual production situation more comprehensively and optimize the production cost, this paper solves the short‐term scheduling optimization problem for a single pipeline containing high melting point crude oil. Based on the refining plan given by the upper layer, a multi‐objective optimization model with high melting ...

Energy Flexibilization and Demand Response for a Novel Decentralized Power‐to‐Methanol Process

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This study presents the results of an optimization framework for the scheduling of a Power‐to‐methanol process coupled with an electrolyser, renewable energy sources and a battery. The optimal dynamic operating schedule is computed with different configurations and boundary conditions, showing the advantages of flexible operation.

Undecidability and hardness in mixed-integer nonlinear programming [PDF]

open access: yesRAIRO - Operations Research, 2019
We survey two aspects of mixed-integer nonlinear programming which have attracted less attention (so far) than solution methods, solvers and applications: namely, whether the class of these problems can be solved algorithmically, and, for the subclasses which can, whether they are hard to solve.

The Benjamin–Ono Equation in the Zero‐Dispersion Limit for Rational Initial Data: Generation of Dispersive Shock Waves

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The leading‐order asymptotic behavior of the solution of the Cauchy initial‐value problem for the Benjamin–Ono equation in L2(R)$L^2(\mathbb {R})$ is obtained explicitly for generic rational initial data u0$u_0$. An explicit asymptotic wave profile uZD(t,x;ε)$u^\mathrm{ZD}(t,x;\epsilon)$ is given, in terms of the branches of the multivalued ...
