Gut Microbiota‐Derived Anandamide Mediates the Therapeutic Effects of Urolithin A on Alcohol‐Induced Cognitive and Social Dysfunction via CB1R‐DRD2‐RAP1 Signaling Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Urolithin A (UA) counteracts alcohol‐induced cognitive and social dysfunction (AICSD) via a gut microbiome‐dependent mechanism. UA‐enriched Bacteroids sartorii and Parabacteroids distasonis elevate anandamide (AEA), which activates the CB1R‐DRD2‐Rap1 signaling cascade to drive synaptic repair and reduce neuroinflammation ...

Super‐Enhancer‐Driven SOX4/SMAD3 Mediate Membrane Remodeling by Regulating Phospholipid Metabolism to Accelerate Leukemia Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic myeloid leukemia blast phase (CML‐BP) poses a severe therapeutic challenge. This study reveals that the super‐enhancer‐driven transcription factors SOX4 and SMAD3 form a cooperative axis critical for disease progression. They co‐activate the oncogenic kinase AXL and promote phospholipid remodeling via LPCAT1 to facilitate its signaling ...

Interactions between Climate, Socioeconomics, and Land Dynamics in Qinghai Province, China: A LUCD Model-Based Numerical Experiment

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, 2013
This simulation-based research produces a set of forecast land use data of Qinghai Province, China, applying the land use change dynamics (LUCD) model. The simulation results show that the land use pattern will almost keep being consistent in the period ...

Agroforestry Price Supports as a Conservation Tool: Mexican Shade Coffee [PDF]

open access: yes
Economic policies that boost the return to mixed agroforesty, thereby creating financial incentives for land managers to favor these systems over less environmentally friendly land uses, could, in theory, have ancillary environmental benefits. This paper

Metabolic Regulation of Dimethylsulfoniopropionate Cleavage and Dimethyl Sulfide Production in Halomonas sp. D47

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) is a major marine organosulfur compound central to climate‐relevant dimethyl sulfide (DMS) production. In Halomonas sp. D47, DMSP catabolism is revealed to be coordinated by two transcriptional regulators, AcuR and AcuZ, which control gene expression by sensing DMSP and its metabolites.

Alternative Land Use Patterns to Minimize Congestion (Volume 1: Comparative Analysis of Mixed Land Use and Separated Land Use Neighborhoods)

open access: yes, 2008
Urban sprawl creates serious traffic congestion. Alternative land use patterns may be the best solution. New Urbanists claim that, by placing frequently-visited sites within walking distance of homes and creating a pleasant walking environment, people are more willing to choose non-motorized transportation mode to do such activities.

Measuring and modeling suspended sediment and nutrient yields in a mixed-land use watershed of the central United States [PDF]

open access: yes
Dissertation advisor: Jason A. Hubbart, Ph.D.Includes vita.Science-based information is needed to better understand mixed-land-use contributions of suspended sediment and nutrient loads to receiving water bodies. Water samples were analyzed for suspended

Coupled Above‐ and Belowground Ecosystem Stability Worldwide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Are the worlds above and below our feet in sync? This global exploration reveals an entangled fate between above‐ and belowground ecosystem stability. It identifies arid regions as hotspots for this coupling and highlights temperature stability as a vital safeguard for maintaining ecosystem balance across our warming planet.
