Influence of land development on stormwater runoff from a mixed land use and land cover catchment

Science of The Total Environment, 2017
Mitigating for the negative impacts of stormwater runoff is becoming a concern due to increased land development. Understanding how land development influences stormwater runoff is essential for sustainably managing water resources. In recent years, aggregate low impact development-best management practices (LID-BMPs) have been implemented to reduce ...

Land use density, land use mix, and walking: insight from a simple theoretical model

2023
AbstractBackgroundLand use density and land use mix are the two most studied characteristics of the built environment and generally, it is believed that higher land use density and higher level of land use mix are associated with more walking, especially for utilitarian purposes.

The hidden side of the entropy-based land-use mix index: Clarifying the relationship between pedestrian volume and land-use mix

Urban Studies, 2018
This study clarifies the previously unknown limitations of the entropy-based land-use mix index and suggests conditions under which the index is valid. The land-use mix index has an n-shaped relationship to dependent variables, which was evidenced by this study, but previous studies have ignored the problem.

Towards an evaluation system of mixed land use

2014
Mixed land use is a key part in modern urban planning theories. The benefits or effects of mixed land use are well qualitatively analysed but in need of more quantitative studies, so an accurate measure of mixed land use is necessary. This paper reviews traditional and new measures of mixed land use, and looks forward to an integrated evaluation system.
