Depth Acquisition from Digital Images [PDF]
Introduction: Depth acquisition from digital images captured with a conventional camera, by analysing focus/defocus cues which are related to depth via an optical model of the camera, is a popular approach to depth-mapping a 3D scene.

Disorder‐Broadened Topological Hall Phase and Anomalous Hall Scaling in FeGe
By systematically introducing defects into FeGe via ion‐beam modification, we demonstrate that disorder broadens the temperature regime over which the topological Hall effect ‐ a signature of skyrmions or other chiral textures — appears, while also increasing its magnitude.

Inconsistency between mixed layer depth and near sea surface stratification over the global ocean
Mixed layer depth (MLD) and near-surface stratification (derived from bulk and subskin density) are crucial variables for defining stability within the upper ocean. Conventional paradigms generally describe the relationship between MLD and stratification

Bio‐Inspired Artificial Ionic Mechanoreceptor
A skin‐inspired artificial mechanoreceptor based on ionic interactions is presented for biomimetic tactile sensing. Pressure‐driven ionic redistribution within microfluidic channels generates a self‐powered electrical signal without external bias. The generated waveform exhibits mechanoreceptor‐like temporal features, including overshoot and undershoot,

Observed Inhibited Downward Penetration of Wind‐Generated Near‐Inertial Energy in the Bering Sea
Near‐inertial waves (NIWs) are energetic in the Bering Sea, but their downward propagation characteristics remain unknown. Here, we first report the penetration of near‐inertial energy generated by distinct synoptic wind forcing events using yearlong ...
