Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Marine Heatwaves/Cold‐Spells Associated With Mixed Layer Depth Variation Globally
Marine heatwaves (MHWs) and cold‐spells (MCSs) are extreme sea surface temperature events with significant impacts on marine ecosystems. However, the connection between these events and mixed layer depth (MLD) variations, as well as how their intensity ...

Variability of currents and mixing processes during the onset of the equatorial cold tongue in the Atlantic [PDF]
The heat content of the surface water masses is important for the circulation of the oceans and the atmosphere. The surface layer serves as a medium for the ocean-atmosphere exchange and thereby significantly affects the dynamics of our climate.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Spatial and seasonal variability of the air-sea equilibration timescale of carbon dioxide [PDF]
The exchange of carbon dioxide between the ocean and the atmosphere tends to bring waters within the mixed layer toward equilibrium by reducing the partial pressure gradient across the air-water interface.

Estimating Mixed Layer Depth from Oceanic Profile Data
Abstract Estimates of mixed layer depth are important to a wide variety of oceanic investigations including upper-ocean productivity, air–sea exchange processes, and long-term climate change. In the absence of direct turbulent dissipation measurements, mixed layer depth is commonly derived from oceanic profile data using threshold, integral, least ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Evaluating CMIP5 simulations of mixed layer depth during summer [PDF]
The ability of CMIP5 models in simulating surface mixed layer depth (MLD) during summer is assessed using 45 climate models. Their ocean models differ greatly in terms of vertical mixing parameterizations and model configurations. In some models, effects of surface waves, Langmuir circulations, submesoscale eddies, as well as additional wind mixing are

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
