Factors Driving Battery and Solar Purchase Decision of Residents: a Behavioural Choice Experiment Using a Hybrid Discrete Choice and Latent Variable Model

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This article explores what drives households to adopt solar PV and battery systems in South East Queensland. Using hybrid discrete choice experiments, it reveals distinct adopter profiles and highlights cost, system size, and energy independence as key motivators.

Single‐Field Evolution Rule Governs the Dynamics of Representational Drift in Mouse Hippocampal Dorsal CA1 Region

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Long‐term hippocampal place‐code dynamics are investigated using calcium imaging across weeks of maze navigation. Analyses reveal a novelty‐irrelevant Single‐Field Evolution Rule (SFER), where active fields promote persistence and inactive fields decline.

A dynamic mixed logit model with agent effect for pedestrian next location choice using ubiquitous Wi-Fi network data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology, 2019
Large scale automated data collection on the movement and activities of pedestrians is a challenging problem. In a previous work we developed a network of cheap sensors that can perform larger scale data collection of pedestrian movements using WiFi ...

Structure‐Dependent Resonant Frequency Engineering of Textile Tactile Sensors Toward Rapid and Precise Braille Recognition Surpassing Human Sensation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A resonant frequency engineering strategy is proposed to modulate the sensibility of piezoresistive textile‐based tactile sensor. It achieves simultaneous detection of static pressure and dynamic vibrations across an unprecedented bandwidth of 5–600 Hz, surpassing human sensation, therefore enables rapid and precise braille recognition.

Mixed logit model based diagnostic analysis of bicycle-vehicle crashes at daytime and nighttime

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology, 2022
Cycling provides an important alternative to environmental-friendly transportation modes in urban areas. However, cyclists are vulnerable road users and often suffer severe injuries once crashes occur, which has impeded the growth of bicycle uses ...

Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.
