What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

How does Farmer Preference matter in Crop variety Adoption? The case of Improved Cassava varieties’ Adoption in Ghana

open access: yesOpen Agriculture, 2018
Ghana’s National Agricultural Research Systems have officially released 24 improved cassava varieties, which are high yielding, disease and pest resistant and early maturing. However, adoption of these varieties by mainly smallholder farmers is very low,

Mixed Logit and Pure Characteristics Models

open access: yes, 2022
Mixed logit or random coefficients logit models are used extensively in empirical work while pure characteristic models feature in much of theoretical work. We provide a theoretical analysis of the relationship between the two classes of models. First, we show an approximation theorem that precisely characterizes the extent and limitations of mixed ...

Correlation and scale in mixed logit models [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Choice Modelling, 2017
This paper examines sources of correlation among utility coefficients in models allowing for random heterogeneity, including correlation that is induced by random scale heterogeneity. We distinguish the capabilities and limitations of various models, including mixed logit, generalized multinomial logit (G-MNL), latent class, and scale-adjusted latent ...

IL‐2 Free Expansion of T Cells with Immunofilaments

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ratio and density of stimulatory αCD3 and αCD28 mAb on immunofilaments (IF) influence T cell expansion, cytokine production, and effector phenotype. Moreover, IL‐2 supplementation is not necessary with optimal performing IFs, which leads to simpler culture conditions, and negative side effects of IL‐2 supplementation are reduced.

A mode choice analysis of school trips in New Jersey

open access: yesJournal of Transport and Land Use, 2014
This paper examines the mode choice behavior of children’s travel to school based on surveys conducted at a sample of schools in New Jersey. The main focus is on a variety of network design, land use, and infrastructure variables that have typically been

ChicGrasp: Imitation‐Learning‐Based Customized Dual‐Jaw Gripper Control for Manipulation of Delicate, Irregular Bio‐Products

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Automated poultry processing lines still rely on humans to lift slippery, easily bruised carcasses onto a shackle conveyor. Deformability, anatomical variance, and hygiene rules make conventional suction and scripted motions unreliable. We present ChicGrasp, an end‐to‐end hardware‐software co‐designed imitation learning framework, to offer a ...

Factors Driving Battery and Solar Purchase Decision of Residents: a Behavioural Choice Experiment Using a Hybrid Discrete Choice and Latent Variable Model

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This article explores what drives households to adopt solar PV and battery systems in South East Queensland. Using hybrid discrete choice experiments, it reveals distinct adopter profiles and highlights cost, system size, and energy independence as key motivators.
