Estimation of factor structured covariance mixed logit models [PDF]
Abstract Mixed logit models with normally distributed random coefficients are typically estimated under the extreme assumptions that either the random coefficients are completely independent or fully correlated. A factor structured covariance offers a range of alternatives between these two assumptions.

Growth of Omnichannel Grocery Retailing and Food Prices
ABSTRACT This paper examines the effects of the growth of omnichannel grocery retailing on food prices. We first develop a conceptual model of consumer choice and retailer pricing that allows us to evaluate changes in equilibrium prices, quantities, and profits with online channel growth and alternative pricing strategies.

Dual Income Tax Reform in Germany. A Microsimulation Approach [PDF]
This paper assesses the impact on household labor supply of a Dual Income Tax reform in Germany. It relies on GMOD, a population-based tax-benefit microsimulation model, and uses flexible mixed logit simulation estimators.Dual Income Tax, Labor Supply ...

ABSTRACT This paper explores the convergence in on‐farm diversification strategies of agricultural holdings, between remote areas and more central ones. Using Italian farm‐level data, we explore the determinants of diversification strategies across farms.

Bayesian Flexible Modelling of Mixed Logit Models
The widespread use of the Mixed Multinomial Logit model, in the context of discrete choice data, has made the issue of choosing a mixing distribution very important. The choice of a specific distribution may seriously bias results if that distribution is not suitable for the data. We propose a flexible hierarchical Bayesian approach in which the mixing

Measurement of Cannibalism Effects in buying experiments using Mixed Logit Models - The Example of a new Brand of the “Fruits of Lake Constance” Association - [PDF]
One fundamental assumption of discrete choice regression is the assumption of independence of irrelevant alternatives (IIA). According to the IIA assumption no correlation is allowed between brands in buying experiments.

ABSTRACT Despite the broad focus on necessity‐ and opportunity‐driven entrepreneurship in research and policy, the entrepreneurial dichotomy within the agribusiness context has not been adequately addressed. This study contributes to closing this knowledge gap by examining youth's perceptions of agribusiness through the lens of the push‐pull motivation

Improving the efficiency of individualized designs for the mixed logit choice model by including covariates. [PDF]
Recent research shows that the inclusion of choice related demo- and sociographics in discrete choice models aids in modeling the choice behavior of consumers substantially.

U.S. Consumer Preferences for Cage‐Free Eggs and Hen Housing Policies
ABSTRACT Farm animal welfare (FAW) continues to be a divisive issue in the egg industry. In the United States, 10 states and most major retailers have implemented policies or voluntary pledges to transition to 100% cage‐free egg sales. We use best‐worst scaling and discrete choice experiments to evaluate U.S.
