Optimization of a vapor injection refrigeration cycle using hydrocarbon mixed refrigerants

International Journal of Refrigeration, 2019
Abstract Refrigeration systems are major consumers of electrical energy in many process industries. Hydrocarbons have regained interest as refrigerants because of the increasing restrictions applied to halogenated fluids. In this work, the use of hydrocarbons mixed refrigerants and an alternative flash tank with vapor injection (FTVI) refrigeration ...

Performance of two mixed refrigerant processes providing refrigeration at 70 K

Cryogenics, 2016
Abstract Mixed refrigerant process refrigerators are ideal for use in superconducting transformers, fault current limiters, etc. placed in a liquid nitrogen bath. Traditional mixed refrigerant processes used above 70 K cannot be used in these applications. The performance of two mixed refrigerant processes suitable for the above applications has been

Performance of mixed refrigerant cascade refrigerator for cooling a space simulation chamber

Indian Journal of Cryogenics, 2014
A mixed refrigerant cascade (MRC) refrigeration system has been developed to replace a conventional two-stage cascade refrigeration system for the cooling of space simulation chambers. A fast cool down of the refrigerator to 193K within a time of 16 min is achieved.

Refrigerating machine operating characteristics under various mixed refrigerant mass charges

International Journal of Refrigeration, 2008
Abstract This paper reports the results of experimental investigation of a low-temperature Joule–Thomson refrigerating machine, working by use of a non-azeotropic mixture of refrigerants and with a single-stage hermetic compressor. The temperature, hydraulic and power performance of the machine are determined experimentally in relation to the mixed ...

APPLICATION OF CASCADE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM WITH MIXING REFRIGERANT IN COLD AIR CUTTING

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2005
In the mechanical cutting process, the replacement of traditional cutting solution with cold air can avoid the pollution of environment. In order to high efficient the refrigerating device and flexible adjust the temperature of cold air, it is necessary to use cascade refrigeration system to supply cool quantity for the compressed air.

Water Trap Refrigerated by a Throttle-Cycle Cooler Using Mixed Gas Refrigerant

1998
The design features and the performance of the cooler are discussed to emphasize characteristics of this refrigeration system compared to other cryocoolers used for water traps. A throttle-cycle cooler based on one-stage oil-lubricated compressor provides water trap temperature in a narrow range of 115 K to 130 K depending upon the heat load on the ...

Low-temperature throttling system with mixed refrigerants

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2011
The basic diagram of a low-temperature throttling unit with mixed refrigerants, which operates at temperatures ranging from −90°C to −110°C, is described. A procedure is proposed to optimize the startup period of the unit, which helps reduce the startup period by 1.8 times.

A comprehensive approach toward utilizing mixed refrigerant and absorption refrigeration systems in an integrated cryogenic refrigeration process

Journal of Cleaner Production, 2018
Abstract This study progresses absorption, mixed refrigerant and mixed fluid cascade refrigeration systems in the integrated cryogenic natural gas plant. It also presents a comprehensive systematic method for designing of refrigeration cycles based on synthesis of mathematic and thermodynamic viewpoints.
