Source origins, modeled profiles, and apportionments of halogenated hydrocarbons in the greater Pearl River Delta region, southern China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We analyze 16-month data of 13 major halocarbons measured at a southern China coastal site in the greater Pearl River Delta (PRD). A total of 188 canister air samples were collected from August 2001 to December 2002.

Flexible Chemiresistive Chitosan‐Glycerol Sensors on Laser‐Induced Graphene Electrodes for Room‐Temperature Ammonia Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Flexible Chitosan‐glycerol sensor integrated with porous laser‐induced graphene (LIG) electrodes enable room‐temperature chemiresistive detection of ammonia (NH3) and proof‐of‐concept detection of fish spoilage. ABSTRACT We report a metal‐free sensor platform combining laser induced graphene (LIG) electrodes with drop‐deposited, glycerol‐plasticized ...

Design of nonflammable mixed refrigerants based on the partial molar enthalpy difference in mixed-refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigerators with/no pre-cooling stage

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering
Abstract Mixed-refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigeration (MJTR) is an important cooling method at temperatures from 80 to 230 K. It can be used in cryosurgery, high-temperature superconductivity and sensor cooling etc. However, most of the studies are on nitrogen-hydrocarbon refrigerants, which are not allowed in applications where there ...

Chemically Doped Conductive Polymers for Wearable Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Among conductive polymers, poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS), polyaniline (PANI), and polypyrrole (PPy) are the most studied and applied. Chemical doping significantly boosts intrinsic conductivity and mechanical robustness.

Microbial Contribution to Soiling and Its Impact on Photovoltaic Module Soiling in Arid Zones of the Atacama Desert

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
Microorganisms colonizing photovoltaic surfaces in the Atacama desert form biofilms that enhance particle adhesion and reduce energy yield. This study identifies UV‐resistant bacteria and carotenoid‐producing strains that interfere with PV performance.

An integrated mixed refrigeration cycle for pre-cooling of refrigeration below 25 K

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
Two trends can be found in current large-scale cryogenic projects. The first is the ever-increasing capacity requirements, while also a shift towards cooling demands at higher temperatures is observed. Conventional helium cycles require the use of oil flooded screw compressors, which are limited in efficiency, capacity, and reliability. Reverse-Brayton

Bacteria and Fungi Synergistically Reprogram Flavonoid Metabolites in the Pericarp of Citrus Reticulata 'Chachi' During Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The authors employed widely targeted metabolomics, microbial amplicon sequencing, and fermentation assays to investigate the microbiome 's influence on PCRC 's (pericarp of Citrus reticulata ' Chachi ') flavonoid profile over 0–19 years of storage. Based on the correlation analysis, solid‐state and liquid‐state fermentation, and catalytic activity ...
