The Effect of Refrigerants in the Mixed Lubrication Regime

1997
Because of environmental concerns, CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) refrigerants must be replaced with HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons.) As a result, many tribological problems are caused especially in rotary piston compressors. To solve the problem, the effects of refrigerants on friction and wear characteristics of the oil and refrigerant mixtures at the mixed ...

Testing of the mixing refrigerants HFC152a/HFC125 in domestic refrigerator

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2005
Abstract The performances of a refrigeration cycle of a 1,1-difluoroethane/pentafluoroethane (HFC152a/HFC125) mixture used as a refrigerant for domestic refrigerators were calculated and analyzed in detail. The results of the theoretical analysis indicate that the HFC152a/HFC125 mixture in the composition of 0.85 mass fraction of HFC152a has a ...

Synthesis of Mixed Refrigerant Cascade Cycles

Chemical Engineering Communications, 2002
This paper considers the synthesis of refrigeration systems with refrigerant mixtures as working fluids. The employed refrigeration topology encompasses features from industrial liquefaction of natural gas (LNG) systems. This configuration consists of a combination of horizontal and vertical cascades generalizing the vertical cascade of pure ...

Effect of dilutant concentration on the performance of environment-friendly mixed refrigerants used in domestic refrigerators

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2022
This paper presents the environment-friendly mixture compositions of hydrocarbons (HC)- and hydrofluorocarbon (HFC)-based ternary mixtures that can be better alternatives for R134a in domestic refrigeration units. Combustible refrigerant HCs (R290, R600, R600a) and HFCs (R152a and R161) are used along with the dilutants R13I1, R245fa, R134a, R227ea ...

Experimental investigation on the miniature mixed refrigerant refrigerator driven by a mini-compressor

Tri-Technology Device Refrigeration (TTDR) III, 2018
Three miniature Joule-Thomson cryogenic coolers and a testing set up were built to investigate the cooling performance in this work. Shell-and-tube heat exchanger and plate fin heat exchangers with rectangular micro channels were designed to achieve high specific surface area.

Performance of mixed refrigerant cascade refrigerator for cooling a space simulation chamber

Indian Journal of Cryogenics, 2014
A mixed refrigerant cascade (MRC) refrigeration system has been developed to replace a conventional two-stage cascade refrigeration system for the cooling of space simulation chambers. A fast cool down of the refrigerator to 193K within a time of 16 min is achieved.

Micro Cryogenic Coolers With Mixed Refrigerants

Volume 1: Advanced Packaging; Emerging Technologies; Modeling and Simulation; Multi-Physics Based Reliability; MEMS and NEMS; Materials and Processes, 2013
A number of small electronic devices benefit from micro-scale low temperature operation. Recently we have developed micro cryogenic coolers (MCCs) using a low-pressure, mixed-refrigerant Joule-Thomson cycle. The cryocoolers utilizes a MEMS-enabled gas compressor coupled to a micro cold stage.
