Typical synergistic effect of graphite nanoplatelets and carbon nanotubes and its influence on polymer-based dielectric composites

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2016
Graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) with their intrinsic two-dimensional structure make an excellent compromise of advantages of both graphite and graphene. Due to their outstanding inherent properties, GNPs have been widely used as the functional fillers to ...

Interpenetrating Self‐Supporting Networks from Anisotropic Semiconductor Nanoparticles and Noble Metal Nanowires

open access: yesSmall Structures, 2023
In this work, a new type of multicomponent nanostructures is introduced by forming interpenetrating networks of two different nanomaterials. In detail, gel networks from semiconductor nanorods are interpenetrated by Au nanowires.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Mixing effects in the river downstream from pollution discharge point

open access: yesTechnical Transactions, 2021
This paper follows the propagation of pollution in a river with a rectangular cross-section of the river bed and a variable cross-sectional velocity. The calculations were made for steady flows and steady pollutant concentrations.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Three-dimensional numerical simulations of oblique internal solitary wave-wave interactions in the South China Sea

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Satellite images show that the oblique internal solitary wave-wave interactions frequently occur in the South China Sea, especially in the periphery of Dongsha Island.

Granular Temperature and Segregation in Dense Sheared Particulate Mixtures

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2016
In gravity-driven flows of different-sized (same density) particles, it is well known that larger particles tend to segregate upward (toward the free surface), and the smaller particles downward in the direction of gravity.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
