The mixing efficiency of interfacial waves breaking at a ridge: 1. Overall mixing efficiency
Journal of Geophysical Research, 2011[1] The overall mixing efficiency of periodic, interfacial waves breaking at a Gaussian ridge is investigated through laboratory experiments. Cumulative measurements are used to investigate the fraction of the wave energy lost in the breaking event that contributes to irreversible mixing of the background density gradient.

EVALUATION OF DISTRIBUTIVE MIXING EFFICIENCY IN MIXING EQUIPMENT
Chemical Engineering Communications, 1995A framework was developed to evaluate the distributive mixing efficiency during processing in a mixer. The dynamics of distributive mixing was studied numerically by means of tracking the evolution of particles originally gathered as clusters. The goodness of mixing was characterized in terms of length stretch, pairwise correlation function and volume ...

An Efficient Microaggregation Algorithm for Mixed Data
2008 International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering, 2008Microaggregation is an important technique to the k-anonymized datasets. However, most existing microaggregation algorithms to achieving k-anonymity have some defects on distance measurement for categorical and mixed data. In this paper, we introduce a categorical data semantic hierarchy to their distance measurement to improve clustering quality.

Case-mix adjustment and efficiency measurement
Scandinavian Journal of Public Health, 2004Aims: The importance of using valid case-mix systems in long-term care is addressed by comparing the predictive power of different case-mix models, and by applying them in the calculation of technical efficiency scores of care units. Methods: To construct different case-mix models a statistical clustering technique (Automatic Interaction Detection) was

Mixing Efficiency of a Stably Stratified Fluid
Boundary-Layer Meteorology, 1993Universally valid expressions for the momentum and mass diffusion coefficients in stratified shear flows do not exist. Similarly, the effect of molecular diffusion in the mixing effciency of a stably stratified has not been investigated previously. In this paper the mixing efficiency in stably stratified flow is considered.

Heat flux and mixing efficiency in the surface mixing layer
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2001Fluctuations of vertical velocity and temperature, w′ and T′, were measured with a horizontal profiler that was towed at night in the oceanic boundary layer between 15 and 25 m depth. Stratified and convective turbulent regimes were encountered along the tow path.

Heterodyne mixing efficiency for detector arrays
Applied Optics, 1987Monostatic radar equations are reported for laser-transceiver sensors that employ coherent optical detection over a linear-array photodetector. Explicit results are presented illustrating the impact of transmitter and receiver antenna patterns on the heterodyne mixing efficiency achieved by each detector element.

Efficiency of the mixing of fibers with mixing machines operating in parallel
Fibre Chemistry, 2011Results are presented from a study of the efficiency of mixing cotton with chemical fibers in mixing machines and opening-cleaning units during cotton-spinning operations. The relations that are obtained make it possible to mix the fibrous mass more efficiently by using optimized parameters - the number of mixing machines, their productivity, and the ...

Efficient Parametric Mixing in CdSe
Applied Physics Letters, 1971We have obtained the first phase-matched nonlinear interaction in CdSe and have observed a 35% conversion efficiency for mixing 10.6 μ with a pump at 1.833 μ to generate a signal at 2.2 μ. The mixing process phase matches at 77° to the optic axis and confirms the predicted phase-matching angle.
