Mixing and equilibration: Protagonists in the scene of nonextensive statistical mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
After a brief review of the present status of nonextensive statistical mechanics, we present a conjectural scenario where mixing (characterized by the entropic index $q_{mix} \le 1$) and equilibration (characterized by the entropic index $q_{eq} \ge 1 ...

Mixing Performance of a 3D Micro T-Mixer with Swirl-Inducing Inlets and Rectangular Constriction

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
In this paper, three novel 3D micro T-mixers, namely, a micro T-mixer with swirl-inducing inlets (TMSI), a micro T-mixer with a rectangular constriction (TMRC), and a micro T-mixer with swirl-inducing inlets and a rectangular constriction (TMSC), were ...

Effect of particle size and particle loading on the mixing behavior of rod-like particles and spherical particles in a fluidized bed

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
The spherical inert particles are typically added to a fluidized bed system to promote the fluidization of non-spherical particles. In this study, the mixing behavior of binary mixtures of rod-like particles and spherical particles in a bubbling ...

Theoretical evolution of Rossby number for solar analog stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Magnetic fields of late-type stars are presumably generated by a dynamo mechanism at the interface layer between the radiative interior and the outer convective zone.

Mixing performance of T-shape micromixers equipped with 3D printed Gyroid matrices: A numerical evaluation

open access: yesResults in Engineering, 2023
This paper introduces innovative T-shape micromixers equipped with various 3D printed Gyroid matrices aiming to boost the mixing performance. A regular Gyroid matrix has been adapted into more complicated twisted, functionally graded, and stochastic ...

The Bourgain ℓ1-index of mixed Tsirelson space

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 2003
Suppose that (F_n)_{n=0}^{\infty} is a sequence of regular families of finite subsets of N such that F_0 contains all singletons, and (θ_n)_{n=1}^{\infty} is a nonincreasing null sequence in (0,1). In this paper, we compute the Bourgain \ell^1 - index of the mixed Tsirelson space T(F_0,(θ_n, F_n)_{n=1}^{\infty}).

Mixing Analysis of Passive Micromixer with Unbalanced Three-Split Rhombic Sub-Channels

open access: yesMicromachines, 2014
A micromixer with unbalanced three-split rhombic sub-channels was proposed, and analyses of the mixing and flow characteristics of this micromixer were performed in this work.

Estimating Submicron Aerosol Mixing State at the Global Scale With Machine Learning and Earth System Modeling

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2021
This study integrates machine learning and particle‐resolved aerosol simulations to develop emulators that predict submicron aerosol mixing state indices from the Earth system model (ESM) simulations. The emulators predict aerosol mixing state using only

Interference at quantum transitions: lasing without inversion and resonant four-wave mixing in strong fields at Doppler-broadened transitions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
An influence of nonlinear interference processes at quantum transitions under strong resonance electromagnetic fields on absorption, amplification and refractive indices as well as on four-wave mixing processes is investigated.

A Mixing Index Based on a Markov Model

open access: yesBehaviormetrika, 1980
A new mixing index, a criterion of degree of mixedness, is proposed for one-dimensional mixtures of two constitutents on the basis of a Markov model. Homogeneous, random and segregated mixtures are clearly discriminated by the values of their mixing index.
