MLP based Pedestrian Counting

Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Management and Communication, 2016
In this paper, we presented an efficient pedestrian counting method for estimating the total number of crowed pedestrians in the video. For this, it detect interest points of the foreground area and the principal components of features - the number of foreground pixels, the number of edge pixels, and textures.

An analysis of underfitting in MLP networks

Proceedings. 2005 IEEE International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 2005., 2006
The generalization ability of an MLP network has been shown to be related to both the number and magnitudes of the network weights. Thus, there exists a tension between employing networks with few weights that have relatively large magnitudes, and networks with a greater number of weights with relatively small magnitudes. The analysis presented in this

Deep MLPs for Imbalanced Classification

2018 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), 2018
Abstract–Classification over imbalanced datasets is a highly interesting topic given that many real-world classification problems present a concrete class with a much smaller number of patterns than the others. In this work we shall explore the use of large, fully connected and potentially deep MLPs in such problems.

MLP classifiers: overtraining and solutions

Proceedings of ICNN'95 - International Conference on Neural Networks, 2002
Training a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) classifier is difficult to control and as a result its performance on unseen patterns is unpredicted. Overtraining is one of many problems in training an MLP classifier. In this paper, the author first discusses the overtraining problem based on an artificial two-input two-category classification problem.
