Scale separation for gravity wave analysis from 3D temperature observations in the MLT region

open access: yes
Abstract. MATS (Mesospheric Airglow/Aerosol, Tomography & Spectroscopy) is a Swedish satellite designed to investigate atmospheric dynamics in the Mesosphere and Lower Thermosphere (MLT). From observing structures in noctilucent clouds over polar regions, and oxygen A-band emissions globally, MATS will supply the research community with ...

How Well Can Solar Wind Parameters Predict Outer Radiation Belt Electron Flux?

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The electron flux in the outer radiation belt is primarily governed by interactions between the solar wind and magnetosphere. While geomagnetic indices are widely used for modeling and forecasting, their real‐time availability is limited. In contrast, solar wind parameters can be continuously monitored by a single satellite at the L1 ${L}_{1}$

Lidar Network for Temperature and Wind Measurements in the Mesosphere and Lower Thermosphere Region

open access: yesSpace Weather
A sodium lidar (light detection and range) network for the Earth's mesosphere and lower thermosphere (MLT) temperature, wind and sodium density measurements is designed and constructed in the second phase of the Chinese Meridional Project.

Structure and composition of supported lipid bilayers: a comparison between solvent‐assisted lipid bilayer and vesicle fusion methods

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 59, Issue 2, Page 343-356, April 2026.
Neutron reflectometry is used to compare supported lipid bilayers formed by vesicle fusion and solvent‐assisted lipid bilayer (SALB) methods, revealing structurally comparable architectures with minor differences in acyl chain thickness and low residual solvent incorporation.

Transport of Nitric Oxide in the Winter Mesosphere and Lower Thermosphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Nitric oxide (NO) plays key roles both in thermospheric energetics and upper‐lower atmosphere coupling. However, mesospheric NO in the polar night region has often been underestimated in whole atmosphere models, and the exact causes are not well ...
