Evaluation of Surface Fluxes from MM5 Using Observations

Monthly Weather Review, 1995
Abstract Direct observations of surface fluxes of momentum, sensible, and latent heat from towers and aircraft are compared to output from the NCAR-Penn State Mesoscale Model MM5. The model flux parameterization is seen to work well if appropriate values of the roughness length z0 and moisture availability parameter M are specified.

Numerical experiments to determine MM5/WRF-CMAQ sensitivity to various PBL and land-surface schemes in north-eastern Spain: application to a case study in summer 2009

, 2012
The Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model was used along with the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model to study air quality modelling sensitivity to various Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) schemes and Land Surface Models (LSMs).

Ozone sensitivity analysis with the MM5-CMAQ modeling system for Shanghai

Journal of Environmental Sciences, 2011
Ozone has become one of the most important air pollution issues around the world. This article applied both O3/(NO(y)-NO(x)) and H2O2/HNO3 indicators to analyze the ozone sensitivity in urban and rural areas of Shanghai, with implementation of the MM5-CMAQ modeling system in July, 2007. The meteorological parameters were obtained by using the MM5 model.

Dynamics of Coastally Trapped Disturbances Deduced from MM5 Simulations

1997
Abstract : LONG TERM GOALS. We wish to advance the understanding of the interaction of a large-scale flow with complex terrain in the presence of a strongly stratified marine atmospheric boundary layer. OBJECTIVES. We wish to carry out a detailed diagnosis of coastally trapped disturbances (CTD's) along the California coast, to document and understand ...
