THE MM5 NUMERICAL MODEL TO CORRECT PSINSAR ATMOSPHERIC PHASE SCREEN [PDF]
In this work we make an experimental analysis to research the capability of Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models as MM5 to produce high resolution (1km-500m) maps of Integrated Water Vapour (IWV) in the atmosphere to mitigate the well-known ...

A study of dispersion in complex terrain under winter conditions using high-resolution mesoscale and Lagrangian particle models [PDF]
A mesoscale model (MM5), a dispersive Langrangian particle model (FLEXPART), and intensive meteorological and COrrelation SPECtrometer (COSPEC) measurements from a field campaign are used to examine the advection and turbulent diffusion patterns ...

Omnibus goodness‐of‐fit tests for univariate continuous distributions based on trigonometric moments
ABSTRACT We propose a new omnibus goodness‐of‐fit test based on trigonometric moments of probability‐integral‐transformed data. The test builds on the framework of the LK test introduced by Langholz and Kronmal [J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 86 (1991), 1077–1084], but fully exploits the covariance structure of the associated trigonometric statistics.

Abstract This study investigates the variable‐ and scale‐dependent intrinsic predictability of wave‐convection coupled bands over southern China on 30 January 2018, using 1‐km simulations under varying initial moisture conditions. The predictability time is quantified via the Loss Predictability Index (LPI), defined as the ratio of the forecast error ...

Evaluation of Humidity, Clouds and Precipitation in COSMO-CLM and MM5 over Germany
The knowledge of uncertainties resulting from simulations of the hydrological cycle in meteorological models is crucial for the interpretation of model results. In order to gain confidence in statements about future changes, it is necessary to assess the

Evaluation of radiative transfer schemes for mesoscale model data assimilation: a case study [PDF]
The assimilation of Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) data into the Mesoscale Model 5 (MM5) allows for improving the weather forecast. However the results suggested an update the Radiative Transfer Equation (RTE) within the three-dimensional ...

Evaluation of Interregional Transport Using the MM5–SCIPUFF System
Abstract Improved understanding of transport issues and source–receptor relationships on the interregional scale is dependent on reducing the uncertainties in the ability to define complex three-dimensional wind fields evolving in time.
