MMSE decision-feedback equalizers: finite-length results

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1995
Summary: This paper extends a number of results on the infinite-length minimum- mean-square-error decision feedback equalizer (MMSE-DFE) reported in [\textit{J. Cioffi}, \textit{G. Dudevoir}, \textit{M. Eyuboglu} and \textit{G. D. Forney} jun., ``Minimum mean-square-error decision feedback equalization and coding. I and II.'' IEEE Trans. Commun.

On MMSE fractionally-spaced equalizer design

Proceedings of 13th International Conference on Digital Signal Processing, 2002
This paper adds analytical tools to an evolving theory on fractionally-spaced equalizer (FSE) design. It examines the minimum mean square error design (MMSE-FSE) for channels perturbed by additive noise in two scenarios: when the equalizer is finite, but is at least as long as the channel, and when the equalizer has an infinite impulse response (IIR ...

Linear MMSE Frequency Domain Equalization with Colored Noise

2007 IEEE 66th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2007
The use of oversampling at the receiver results in colored noise when the bandwidth of the noise-limiting filter is not sufficiently large. This paper proposes a fractionally-spaced single-carrier linear MMSE frequency domain equalizer (LMMSE-FDE) over frequency-selective multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channels.

A new blind adaptive MMSE equalizer for MIMO systems

2005 IEEE 16th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2006
In this paper, we consider the problem of blind equalization of MIMO systems. In a recent work a blind MMSE equalizer robust to channel order over-estimation errors was proposed for SIMO systems. In this work, we extend this method and propose a new MMSE algorithm that presents better robustness and better tracking performances.

A matched filter approximation for SC/MMSE iterative equalizers

IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2001
This letter proposes a new iterative ISI equalization algorithm that offers low computational complexity: order L/sup 2/ with channel memory length L. The proposed algorithm is an extension of Reynolds and Wang's SC/MMSE (soft canceler followed by MMSE filter) equalizer: approximations are used properly to reduce the computational complexity.

Mismatched finite-complexity MMSE decision feedback equalizers

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1997
Closed-form expressions that quantify the degradation in the decision-point signal-to-noise ratio of the finite-length minimum mean-square-error decision feedback equalizer (MMSE-DFE) due to channel and noise mismatch conditions are derived. The analysis is further extended to other receiver structures, namely, the MMSE-DFE with an adaptive feedforward

Optimum MMSE equalization for staggered modulation

Proceedings of 27th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2002
"Staggered modulation" techniques have become prevalent in digital radio transmission. These techniques offset or stagger the modulation of the in-phase component with respect to the quadrature component of the signal. Examples include minimum shift keying (MSK), Gaussian MSK, offset QPSK, and offset QAM. Conventional equalization designed for QPSK/QAM

Performance analysis of ZF and MMSE equalizers for MIMO systems

7th International Conference on Design & Technology of Integrated Systems in Nanoscale Era, 2012
This paper presents an in-depth analysis of the zero forcing (ZF) and minimum mean squared error (MMSE) equalizers applied to wireless multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems with no fewer receive than transmit antennas. In spite of much prior work on this subject, we reveal several new and surprising analytical results in terms of output signal-to ...

A Novel Practical CP Based Mismatched MMSE Equalization

2017 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2017
Faster than symbol rate (FTSR) sampling is necessary once practical non-adaptive analog front-end filter and excess bandwidth are employed in case of unequally spaced channel taps. Based on this a novel FTSR sampled mismatched minimum mean square error (MMSE) time domain equalization (TDE) is proposed in response to cyclic prefix (CP) based block ...

Lattice Reduction Aided MMSE Decision Feedback Equalizers

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2011
The LLL algorithm developed by Lenstra, Lenstra, and Lovasz has been widely studied to improve the conditioning of linear systems of equations that arise in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna systems. In the first part of this correspondence, we show how a certain class of matrices can be transformed so that the LLL algorithm can be carried out ...
