Matrine Attenuates Neurological Deficits and Neuroinflammation by Inhibiting the HMGB1/RAGE Axis and Ferroptosis in Intracerebral Hemorrhage Mice

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a life‐threatening stroke subtype that lacks effective drug therapy. In the context of ICH, neuroinflammation, and ferroptosis are key contributors to secondary brain injury. In this study, we assessed the neuroprotective effects of matrine (MAT) and its mechanism of action involving the HMGB1/RAGE axis in an ...

Pachymic Acid Targets PI3K/Akt Signaling Pathway to Attenuate tPA‐Induced Hemorrhagic Transformation After Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
Pachymic acid protects blood–brain barrier (BBB) integrity by decreasing the degradation of tight junction proteins caused by tissue plasminogen activator (tPA). Pachymic acid activates the PI3K/Akt pathway via direct binding to PI3K protein, mitigating BBB damage and hemorrhagic transformation induced by tPA after ischemic stroke.

KCC2 Dysfunction Mediated by Microglial BDNF/TrkB Signaling Exacerbates Early Post‐Stroke Seizure Susceptibility

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
Ischemic stroke induces microglial activation and BDNF–TrkB signaling, leading to KCC2 downregulation and seizure susceptibility. Pharmacological inhibition of microglia or TrkB and restoration of KCC2 function with the chloride extrusion enhancer CLP290 attenuate post‐ischemic seizures.

Neuroimmune Microenvironment Reprogramming via Immuno‐piezoelectric Transducers for Synergistic Stem Cell Therapy in Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 2, 8 January 2026.
A novel immuno‐piezoelectric transducer is innovatively developed. This device promotes neural stem cell (NSC) differentiation and maturation via ultrasound‐induced electrical stimulation and it amplifies the therapeutic efficacy of NSC in traumatic brain injury (TBI) by modulating the immune microenvironment. This piezoelectric transducer with “immune‐

Tie2‐Dependent Mechanisms Influence Leptomeningeal Collateral Dynamics and Reperfusion Following Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 3, 14 January 2026.
This work demonstrates that endothelial EphA4 limits Tie2 activation and curbs leptomeningeal collateral expansion after ischemic stroke. Pharmacological activation of Tie2 by an Ang‐1 mimetic or genetic loss of EphA4 stimulates collateral vessel growth, improves cerebral perfusion, and enhances neurological recovery.

Carbon Monoxide Nanomodulator Reverses Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury in Stroke: A Novel Dual‐Channel Therapy Mode of Co‐driving Neuroprotection and Neurogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 1, 5 January 2026.
This work develops a biomimetic and reactive oxygen species‐activated carbon monoxide (CO) nanogenerator to penetrate blood‐brain barrier, arrive in stroke‐affected regions, and release CO in a controlled manner for an innovative dual‐channel therapy strategy via co‐driving neuroprotection and neurogenesis.

A Metalloporphyrin Nanosystem Enables Non‐Invasive Visualization and Specific Treatment for Thrombosis and Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 47, December 18, 2025.
Thrombotic ischemic stroke is a severe neurological disease of the brain that presents major challenges for effective diagnosis and treatment. Precisely engineered Ir and Mn cores within a single porphyrin framework of 4IrMn nanoparticles enable endogenous ONOO−‐ or laser‐activated switching among NIR‐CL imaging, photothermal / photodynamic therapy ...

Systemic administration of urocortin after intracerebral hemorrhage reduces neurological deficits and neuroinflammation in rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) remains a serious clinical problem lacking effective treatment. Urocortin (UCN), a novel anti-inflammatory neuropeptide, protects injured cardiomyocytes and dopaminergic neurons.
