An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

New Memory-Updating Methods in Two-Step Newton’s Variants for Solving Nonlinear Equations with High Efficiency Index

open access: yesMathematics
In the paper, we iteratively solve a scalar nonlinear equation f(x)=0, where f∈C(I,R),x∈I⊂R, and I includes at least one real root r. Three novel two-step iterative schemes equipped with memory updating methods are developed; they are variants of the ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Soft X-ray Emission and Resonant Inelastic Scattering Study of Polycyclic Hydrocarbons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This thesis comprises a detailed study of the electronic properties of the polycyclic hydrocarbonstetracene, perylene and coronene. The at room temperature grown organiclayers consisted of a up to several hundred nanometer thickness, and have been ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Spectrophotometric Quantitation of Antioxidant Capacity through the Formation of a Phosphomolybdenum Complex: Specific Application to the Determination of Vitamin E1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A spectrophotometric method has been developed for the quantitative determination of antioxidant capacity. The assay is based on the reduction of Mo(VI)to Mo(V) by the sample analyte and the subsequent formation of a green phosphate/Mo(V) complex ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Canonical Metrics on Twisted Quiver Bundles over a Class of Non-Compact Gauduchon Manifold

open access: yesAxioms
The aim of this paper is to prove a theorem for holomorphic twisted quiver bundles over a special non-compact Gauduchon manifold, connecting the existence of (σ,τ)-Hermite–Yang–Mills metric in differential geometry and the analytic (σ,τ)-stability in ...
