Introns in prokaryotes are classified as mobile genetic elements normally located within essential genes. Their RNA transcripts are functional if spliced by the intron´s ribozyme activity.

Unraveling the genomic epidemiology and plasmid-mediated carbapenem resistance of Klebsiella pasteurii
