Abnormal cleavage patterns in equine in vitro‐produced embryos lead to higher early pregnancy loss

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Background Despite significant advances, in vitro production (IVP) of equine embryos continues to lack standardised embryo classification criteria and is associated with increased rates of early pregnancy loss compared with in vivo‐derived blastocysts.

Genetic and Ecological Management of Pacific Salmon Fisheries for the 21st Century

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Based on ecological adaptation theory, tremendous effort is being spent on measures that are eliminating salmon hatcheries and fishing opportunities with the intention of protecting wild runs deemed to be of particular genetic importance to the survival of the species.

A Lavandula angustifolia flower extract and dipeptide‐4 blend modulates oxidative, glycative, autophagic and circadian pathways in human skin models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
The blend enhanced antioxidation, anti‐glycation, autophagy and circadian regulation in cell and skin models. Key markers included mitochondrial ROS, γ‐H2AX, AGEs, ATP, melatonin, LC3 and SOD. Significant improvements were visualized via fluorescence and quantified with statistical markers.

A participatory modeling method for multi-points of view description of a system from scientist's perceptions : application in seed systems modeling in Mali and Chile [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a participatory modeling for multi-points of view description of a system from scientists' knowledge. The method is applied in the development of a generic model for agro-biodiversity dynamics in developing countries with a focus on ...

The hidden science of haptics: A pedagogical review of tactile evaluation in cosmetics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
This review explores the physiological basis of tactile perception and critically examines classical and emerging sensory methods used in cosmetics, advocating for broader methodological integration and recognition of sensory analysis in the field. Abstract Sensory analysis is a cornerstone of cosmetic development, yet remains underrepresented in peer ...

Exploring the microbiota–skin–brain axis: Chicory extract biotransformed into a postbiotic neurocosmetic enhancer of social and sensory experience

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Application of CHICORY EXTRACT by a consumer has the ability to evoke positive emotional responses in individuals who come into tactile contact with the treated skin. Abstract Objective Measuring the influence of cosmetic ingredients on the microbiota‐skin‐brain axis is a difficult challenge.

Simultaneous double transformations of functions depending on space and time

open access: yes, 2013
It is shown that performing simultaneously two transformations on functions of space and time (for instance a Fourier transform on the space variable and a Laplace transform on the time variable) can be easier than performing them one after the other ...

Friction and vibration generated during sliding over bare skin correlate with perceived smoothness and moistness

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
A tactile sensor with a probe replicating a fingerprint quantified skin texture by measuring vibration and friction. Regression analysis linked smoothness and moistness perceptions with high‐frequency vibration amplitude and friction. These findings support the objective assessment of skin texture, enhancing product evaluation consistency and bridging ...

Financial Market Liquidity and the Lender of Last Resort. [PDF]

open access: yes
It has been argued in the literature that emergency liquidity injections should be conducted preferably in the form of open market operations. As we show in the present paper, this is not necessarily the case when liquidity may be alternatively used for ...
