Sensor placement for modal identification

Abstract Planning of sensor placement can be done by using a finite element model before a modal test. In this paper, a method is proposed in order to select the most relevant degrees of freedom which should be monitored by sensors. It uses two criteria based on observability of mode shapes and on information shared by sensors.

AbstractA method for the time domain identification of modal parameters of a vibrating structure using Z‐transformation sequences is presented in this paper.This identification proceeds using the Z‐transfer function of a vibrating structure from which an auto‐regressive and moving‐average (ARMA) model of the vibrating structure is derived.
