The Modal Interpretation of Algebraic Quantum Field Theory

open access: yes, 2000
In a recent article, Dieks has proposed a way to implement the modal interpretation of (nonrelativistic) quantum theory in relativistic quantum field theory.

Large scale random fields generation using localized Karhunen–Loève expansion

open access: yesAdvanced Modeling and Simulation in Engineering Sciences, 2018
In this paper the generation of random fields when the domain is much larger than the characteristic correlation length is made using an adaptation of the Karhunen–Loève expansion (KLE).

The degree of grammaticalization of gotta, gonna, wanna and better: A corpus study

open access: yesTopics in Linguistics, 2015
The paper studies the degree of grammaticalization of the structures gotta, gonna, wanna and better. The study presumes that the semantics of these structures – more precisely their modal polyfunctionality (i.e.

Title redacted for blind review [PDF]

open access: yes
This essay aims to provide a modal logic for rational intuition. Similarly to treatments of the property of knowledge in epistemic logic, I argue that rational intuition can be codified by a modal operator governed by the axioms of a dynamic provability ...

The expressibility of modality in representational complement clauses in Brazilian Portuguese

open access: yesAlfa: Revista de Lingüística, 2007
<p>This paper deals with the (im)possibility of expressing a variety of modal categories within the context of the layering approach to complementation in Functional Discourse Grammar (FDG).Our hypothesis is that modal expressions in complement ...

Operational Modal Analysis Tutorial

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper the basic principles in operational modal testing and analysis are presented and discussed. A brief review of the techniques for operational modal testing and identification is presented, and it is argued, that there is now a wide range of techniques for effective identification of modal parameters of practical interest - including the ...

Bisimulation Quotient in Inquisitive Modal Logic

open access: yesLogics
Inquisitive modal logic InqML⊞ is a natural generalization of basic modal logic, with ⊞ as a primitive modal operator. In this paper, we study the bisimulation quotients in the logic InqML⊞.

Relation-changing modal operators

open access: yes, 2015
We study dynamic modal operators that can change the accessibility relation of a model during the evaluation of a formula. In particular, we extend the basic modal language with modalities that are able to delete, add or swap an edge between pairs of elements of the domain. We define a generic framework to characterize this kind of operations.
